Hand addressing invitation envelopes?

Brianna N, on July 8, 2019 at 4:23 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 61

Hey guys Smiley smile I have heard that traditionally invitation envelopes are hand written, and I like this idea. I have decent handwriting, but it still makes me nervous that they won't look as nice, because I can't write in pretty cursive or calligraphy or anything, LOL! I'm sure I am overthinking this, but what did you do/are you planning on doing for your invites? Should I just get printed address labels?

I did mine on my cricut, which I realize isn't an option for everyone. Otherwise, I would have printed labels. There's no way I was gonna hand address 75 envelopes!

I ordered my invitations from Shutterfly and they offer to address the envelopes (both to the recipient and the RSVPs) so I let them!! I have awful handwriting and saving time with little to no cost was so worth it!! Minted also offers this services which I used on my Save The Dates. As for my return address, we ordered a rubber ink stamp off of Etsy for $8 to save time as well!

I ordered invitations with printed envelopes from Zola. Even if I did have good handwriting, I think the printed looks better.

We printed directly onto our STD envelopes. Our invitations came pre-addressed.

What shop did you purchase the stamp from? That is a great idea!

I ran my envelopes through the printer. I didnt like the ideas of pasting labels on the envelopes, but didnt want to handwrite 77 envelopes.

I used the printed labels! It was very easy. Honestly, I cared zero about how the envelopes looked. They’re literally going to get thrown away immediately when they arrive 😂

I hand wrote mine. I don’t usually write very neat, but for these, I just took my time and had extra envelopes just in case- I only messed up three times. The pen I used made it look really pretty.

This! I am using clear printed labels on gold envelopes for both the RSVP and Invitation. I have 150 invites to address, I wouldn't dare do them by hand. The first 5 might look nice but the rest would probably go downhill quick because I would get tired. Also you would have to budget for extra envelopes for mistakes.

It's called MarkStampShop. It took a little longer on the delivery as it came from Malaysia, but it was still very timely and great quality!

Avery 2 inch by 4 inch clear glossy labels for guest addresses. And Avery 2 inch by 2 inch clear glossy labels for return address and rsvp envelope. I have a return address stamp but the ink smears on the shimmery envelopes.

You could always pick a few invites to VIPs that you hand address. I was considering this for our parents and grandparents. They would be the few who cared.

My mom hand calligraphy-ed her invitations for her wedding 35 years ago. My grandmother kept hers until she passed and now I have it. Such a cool keepsake.

I got a calligraphy book and pen at michaels and did them myself. I got tons of compliments on the save the date envelopes, people really appreciated it. Doing the same for the invites.

One of my bridesmaids offered to hand-address all of my envelopes for the wedding; if not, I would have used my cricut or printed them at home. If you do decide to hand write, Hobby Lobby sells a template to help you keep your writing straight and in the correct spot on the envelope

I hired a Calligrapher to address mine. She did a fantastic job. I found her on Nextdoor and she charged $1.50 per envelope. I used personalized stickers for the return address. If you have nice handwriting, I’d go for it. Mine is atrocious, so I decided to go this route.

Is the wording easy to see? I was looking at Avery as well, I am getting shimmery silver envelopes, I was just worried it would be hard to see the writing on the clear labels
