Hey guys Smiley smile I have heard that traditionally invitation envelopes are hand written, and I like this idea. I have decent handwriting, but it still makes me nervous that they won't look as nice, because I can't write in pretty cursive or calligraphy or anything, LOL! I'm sure I am overthinking this, but what did you do/are you planning on doing for your invites? Should I just get printed address labels?

I haven't printed them yet. It is literally next on my list once I get home from work. I will post a picture when I get one done. Smiley smile

I write in cursive on a regular basis, so I have quite pretty handwriting. I addresses my 40 invites by hand, same with my fave the dates. So much effort. Probably wouldn't recommend. 😂

I hand wrote all of our invitations with gold pen and they came out pretty good.

I just wrote mine in cursive because that's what I typically write in. My thought was, it's going to go in the trash. Why spend money on something that no one saves? I hand addressed 153 envelopes.

I ordered my invitations from Shutterfly and they printed the return address on our wedding invitations. But I hand wrote the sender names and address on each one. Plus I had to handwritten both sender and returned address on our STD!!!

I’m a little OCD, and enjoy doing things the hard way lol! I have good hand writing, so I don’t mind the task.

Minted is addressing my envelopes but I’ll be writing the RSVP Envelopes. We bought a stencil so I’ll keep them neat & straight.

I just handwrote mine. My hand writing isn't the best, but honestly, as long as the post office can read it, no one cares. People just tear and toss the envelope in the trash immediately anyway.

I asked two of my bridesmaids if they would mind helping me with invites and we all sat down, divided the invites into three stacks and did them all in two hours. My handwriting is okay, but not pretty, theirs was much better lol. In the end of the day they throw away the envelopes, so I really didn't want to spend money on labels!

I hand wrote mine. It hurt my hand but as long as I took my time they came out pretty good! In my opinion the envelope with the guest name and address is just going to get thrown out anyway so I didn't want to pay to get the names looking fancy lol

So I think handwritten is fine as long as its legible.

My MOH is very savy in this area and helped with the mail merge. Before we did I downloaded a pretty calligraphy font.
We also printed the inner envelopes that way, too.
If you dont have someone who knows how to mail merge, you can YouTube it. Good luck!

I hand wrote mine. I bought a 5 dollar calligraphy pen for kids, and it worked great. Just took my time (no cursive) to hand write them. I also bought one of those envelope templates to keep everything even and centered, from hobby lobby.

I would never have considered labels, and very rarely receive ones that are not hand printed it cursive written. People tend to think if calligraphers as this breed apart, from most people's hand writing. That is because most of us learned in early grade school , and never tried again. But if you practice not calligraphy, but plain old very neat printing, it cursive, a whole pad of lined paper over a week of time, first your A's, then your B's etc, like anyone first learning, most anyone can transform their written style to very neat, and when all letters are neatly firmed, in proportion, it looks neat, rhythmic, like waves on water in regularity. Attractive enough. As a PT I work in a practice alongside many rehab people and OT's. And people who crunch up their hands, then need to practice writing again, are astounded at how much neater their previous illegible scrawl is after 29 one hour practice sessions. They not only get back their fine motor control if the hand. But learning as an adult, but practicing the formation of letters as done last at ages 5-8, they quickly write in a neater and more attractive hand than ever before. It is being motivated to practice. You will be addressing 1-2 thank you notes as well as invitations for every guest, if you average in those for gifts ( which may arrive a month apart from same person, so 2 notes), and shower hostesses, and then 2 cards or charted names for every person for seating, the invitations you address for 80 invitations for 125 guests, may end up with 180 thank you notes for shower and wedding gifts, and 250 seating g cards. Do some practice, very neat printing it cursive. Forget fancy. Just very nice and neat will do.

Handwriting, yours or a calligrapher's. This is not junk mail, but a personal and important communication.
