Handfasting Ceremony That Involves all guests?

Sarah, on August 6, 2021 at 10:28 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4

My partner and I are hosting a less traditional wedding (no wedding party, no wedding rings) but we love the idea of including a traditional handfasting ceremony. The focus of our wedding is not so much on us (we've been together 10+ years so this is not a big change) but on our dearest friends & family. I'd love to find some way to incorporate all of our guests (40-45) in this wrapping of the cords but unsure on how to best make that happen? Has anyone ever done something like that before? Or have any ideas in how to make that work? Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a cool idea in theory but probably not the wisest decision to have 40-45 people all tied up in and touching the same set of cords during Covid...

OMG. You are SO right! Definitely not the brightest idea :/ This wedding has been postponed twice and I'm so drained by Covid Smiley sad

Maybe they could wrap the cords on something else than your hands... ? On an object that you'll keep...?

But still - you can do all that without touching, couldn't you ? People can just put the ribbons without doing a lot of touching...?

Like on this picture - there's no a lot of hands touching... and you can still put some gel/alcohol solution to put by guests before ceremony...?

Super duper long ribbon? Or put a little ribbon on each chair as decor and to symbolize the handfasting ribbon?
