Handfasting

Natalie, on June 15, 2021 at 12:16 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 4
I am planning to incorporate handfasting into my ceremony. I am trying to figure out when to do it during the ceremony, any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

If you're doing traditional vows as well I would suggest right before those.

Usually there's a welcoming/reading from the officiant, then any unity ceremonies (like the handfastening) and then maybe another reading and an exchange of vows and proclamation of being wed.

This was one of our favorite parts of our ceremony and our guests loved it. We did it right before vows.

That's what I was thinking as well, but then I was wondering how you exchange rings while your hands are in the cords, or did you take them out for the rest of the ceremony?

Yep, that's exactly how we did it. Our officiant untied the ropes and then we did exchanging of rings. Our officiant had also done a "ring warning" where he sent them in a small velvet bag around the room so everyone could hold them and think positive thoughts. He sent them around near the beginning of the ceremony so by the time we were done with hand fasting he was able to get the rings back and we did the vows.
