Harpist and Music Played During Ceremony?

Debbie, on February 24, 2022 at 8:03 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
We hired a harpist because I really wanted to have beautiful live music playing as guests are being seated and during the ceremony. But now, FH is saying he wants a specific song playing as he comes out and I am now thinking of songs I want played as well (songs with lyrics vs. music being played by harpist). Has anyone ever had both? Would that be weird to have the harpist pause so music with lyrics could be played as FH walks and then as I walk?

Personally, I've never actually been to a wedding where songs with lyrics were played at the ceremony. More typically, people choose instrumental versions of those songs. I would also find it a little odd to have a live musician stop playing so that pre-recorded music can be played. However, if that is what you two want, it's your wedding. I doubt anyone would say anything to you, even if they did find it a bit odd.

The harpist can do that unless he wants to hear actual lyrics. Mine is willing to learn songs for my wedding if she doesn't know them.

Thanks! We’ll be sticking with the harpist only.
