Has Anybody Used Wedit?

Ashley&Kyle, on April 9, 2015 at 3:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

We're on a very tight budget, but I'd love to get some footage of our day. I've been playing with the idea of using Wedit instead of paying for a videographer. I know the quality of the video isn't as good, but I don't mind.

Has anyone used or know someone who used Wedit? Is it worth it?

(For anyone who doesn't know, they mail you a bunch of cameras--about 10 hours worth of memory--and your guests videotape your day. They also have packages where they will edit it all into a nice video, but you will get all of the raw footage.

Here's a link to their website: https://www.wedit.com/index.php )

I posted an ad on wedit for a DOC because all the others were way out of line. Two responded and I hired my DOC from that ad.

^Nope. Wedit is a video thing. They send you 5 cameras, your guests record videos, you send them in, and they will host and edit them for you.

I did a search for what other people have said about this, and it it's mixed at best. They just send you iPhones or an iTouch or whatever, it's not an actual camera. Sounds like keeping track of them is just another source of stress, and for ~$500 you could probably bribe a videography student into setting up a couple of tripods. Or, just ask people with good smart phones to video as they can.

The concept is good, but for what you get I don't know that it's worth it. You may be better off spending another few hundred dollars to get an actual videographer.

I've never used it so I can't help sorry Smiley sad Just a friendly suggestion, do you think your guest will be ok with filming or will they be annoyed? I wouldn't trust my cousins with a camera sober or drunk, I would be to scared to see the footage.

I thought about it and posted a question similar to yours when I was researching them and just couldn't get a direct response. I decided against it only because it wasn't in my budget.

Also try craigslist. I found my videographer on there because it's cheaper to post ads than other sites. It's worth a try or contact a community college and talk to an instructor. Maybe they can recommend a student who's just starting out that would do it for free or little money to start their portfolio.

Valarie, it seems pretty similar. What did people say was different? Or have you just heard more about Wedding Mix?

ETA: I did more digging and I can see how this is better Smiley tongue

Sabrina, I wouldn't force it. I would just make sure people knew the cameras were there. I have four aunts who will all LOVE to video Smiley tongue
