Has anyone Altered their Neckline from "jewel/scoop" to Sweetheart!? How much did it cost?

Hello my beautiful Brides and wives. I have an Alteration question Regarding necklines! Not sure which neckline my dress actually has? Kind of looks like two different named necklines. "Jewel' or "scoop" I just feel this neckline is a little too modest for me lol. I would like to show a little dip with the Iconic Sweetheart. The neckline does have 3D Floral Embellishments and Beading. Has anyone ever done this? Could this make the alteration more complicated and or expensive? My dress comes in next week and I plan on looking up Best Bridal Seamstress near me! But I wanted to reach out to hear your neckline alteration stories! Thank you for your time!

I would be curious how the straps hold that current neckline shape. An easy change might be to add a 3" V in the middle with maybe something to help keep the rest of the neckline in place. Another thread has a similar question but the poster has not mentioned her choice yet.

It definitely can be done - make sure you vet any seamstress you choose first, as an alteration like this is more complicated. If done wrong the whole look of the dress will be ruined. The straps need to be taken off first so that the true line of the sweetheart can start from the underarm. Just dipping in the middle will ruin the line of the bodice. Beading and 3-D embellishments would be removed before alterations, and then hand sewn back in place to continue the overall design, and straps would need to also be resen on. Remember it isn't just the font of the dress that is altered - any lining, boning etc is also affected. Pricing can run anywhere from $100 to $300, again depending on the intricacy of the embellishments.
