Has anyone been able to adjust a large structured bust?

Rebecca, on February 21, 2018 at 5:30 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I just got my dress in and was happy to see it fits really well except for the very large and structured bust. I am a 32b and the dress gapes out any looks in unnaturally large. The store I got it from made it sound like I should just try to fill it out and it will be hard to be fixed. I'm going to see a seamstress but has anyone had success? Do you think my dress needs it? Thank you!

I'm kind of in the same situation you are in. However, I have a large bust and for some reason, I still have that gap you are explaining. It is the boning in the chest area like you said and maybe they can take out some of it or all or I feel like they could take some material away. That was an option for me, however, with a large chest, it would look weird since it would be pretty flat and there wouldn't be that structure anymore. I'm sure a seamstress would be able to answer all these questions. Also, might be kind of weird but...maybe they can just pull it back to get rid of that gap...but, the structure would be there and you wouldn't really be filling it out all the way. I don't know if that came off as sounding confusing, but I'm trying to explain it and having a hard time.

Is that the size you ordered it in or was that the sample? If your real size will be smaller it's possible the bust area will be as well. I bet a seamstress would be able to give you a good idea with a photo but obviously they are your best bet!

ETA: I don't think it looks bad as-is but would probably look cleaner overall if you could have them take it in a but underneath.

This is actually my size! I was surprised because it seems larger than the sample. You're right I should just wait until I talk to a seamstress but of course I have taken to the internet instead haha

I had the same issue. 32C here and I took my dress to a seamstress who sewed in a small cup which helped lift my girls to fit the top without having to alter my dress. It fits fine now :-)

I'm busty (DD) and don't have any gap, but when i went for my first fitting they still altered around my bust to fit even better. Im sure a good seamstress could fix this for you easily. 1st pic is of the bust when I tried in the sample with a bra on and said yes. 2nd pic is during my first fitting. They pinned it under my bust. I'll see it again tomorrow

Would fashion tape work to keep it flat?

I was told the same thing about my dress (same bra size as you!) and asked if I wanted to add cups to fill it out. They said with the shaping and detail of the lace they could not fix that part. I opted not to have cups added and just embrace the extra roominess in the bust area! I don't think yours looks weird at all either! It's beautiful! What designer is your dress? I think we have the same designer Smiley smile

The designer is essence of Australia! I guess I can live with it I know I'll just feel more comfortable if it's brought in somehow!
