Has anyone been engaged for more than a year?

I officially have a wedding date however, my wedding is in two years and a lot of people has a negative opinion about the long engagement period. In addition, I’m also saving for a new home in an expensive state (New York). All of this negative energy is making me want to just call it off. Anyone...
I officially have a wedding date however, my wedding is in two years and a lot of people has a negative opinion about the long engagement period. In addition, I’m also saving for a new home in an expensive state (New York). All of this negative energy is making me want to just call it off. Anyone here has been engaged for this long?

    I'll do you one better: my husband and I were engaged for five years! Smiley surprise Before you freak out, though, it wasn't because we were that indecisive. A lot of things happened between the day we got engaged (09-04-2016) and the day we got married (10-23-2021), and the pandemic was just one of them. Two months after we got engaged, I lost my mom somewhat suddenly. A year later, my husband was laid off from his job. Then we both changed jobs again and moved. We'd finally decided on April 4, 2020, and were three weeks away from that when the world shut down. Rather than a quickie courthouse wedding, we decided the best thing to do was to postpone until we had a better grip on the situation.
