Has anyone bought a replica wedding dress online? From DHGate.com?

I have discovered DHGATE from a wedding blog I was reading about wedding dress scams. They said this is one of the recommended sites for discounted gowns. It is like ebay but I believe it's based out of Asia. There have gorgeous dresses in the $150 range, the particular seller I was looking at was Earlybird01, he has over 700 reviews at 100% so if it is like ebay then that sounds promising to me. I think how it works is that he finds dresses online and makes them himself or "his team" There are ton's of sellers online and I read the reviews some were really bad so I wouldn't go with them, Earlybird had the most and best revews...So has anyone used this site and what was your experience?

I have some mad money so I'm thinking the $150 is worth the risk. What do you think??

Post pics if you have them!

Wow so I don't have time right now to tell you all the ends and outs but long story short, they send me pics on Aug 15th about 15 days after I place the order and made my dress an empire waist dress. This was the last silouette I wanted for my wedding dress. They said yes, we made a mistake and will fix it. about 30 days later after emailing and them reassuring that it will be beautiful I find a box at my house and it was the dress. Why was it here? I hadn't seen or approved the corrections?? I opened it and it was the same WRONG DRESS!! They hadn't done any thing to it in nearly 30 days. Now I am in negotiations to get my money back.

When I saw the pics a month ago I paniked and found dressilyme reviews online. Same concept as dhgate but they are an actual company. I submitted my dream designer dress-that i didn't want to pay $3000 just to have a designer name-and dressilyme.com said they could do it for $170!! I can not say enought about what an easy and great experience it was.

Above pics are what dhgate made. It was supposed to be ball down not empire waist. They said they would fix it but sent the same dress a month later with out my approval-their policy is you approve then they send to prevent this problem. This is me in the dress.. It was too big- I double checked my measurments and they were right, I gave them the right inches.. and it was way too long...

The workmen ship was pretty good for the price about $230 including a veil and shipping. But there were some appliques and beading that would need to be reattached it I kept this dress.

Here is my dream dress and then what dressily me created with my changes..

Ladies if you go this route, open your pics in microsoft paint-all computers (PC not MAC, Mac has something different) have the paint program under accessories from the start up menu- But yeah use that tool to show them exactly what you want.

So I recommend dressilyme.com they have tons of beautiful dresses to choose from or you can find the most marvelous dress, your dream dress and they may be able to replicate it for you. I know some girls from projectwedding.com forum that dressilyme denied. The skirt was too intriquet and they told them they could not do the dress justice. I love the honesty in that. Communication was great, I worked with Paris and Karen. Happy Hunting..30 days till the wedding!!!!

I advise you to stay away from DH gate. I tried them because I loved the dress I saw and of course the price. They did send a lovely dress but totally screwed up the sizing. It was completely their error too- they were 6" off and dress would not zip! They refused to do anything about it and said it was not their fault- even though I kept all corispondence from them to confirm they did mess up. They argued to the end and refused to send my money back or send dress that was right. I was out all my money. So, unless you can afford that risk- don't do it. They do not stand by their work at all- something I did ask of them prior to ordering because I was a little leery anyway! Good luck.

I disputed the purchase with DHGate after the seller refused to give me a full refund. The agreed that I can send it back for a full refund for me. I just shipped it so now I'm waiting.

I've never purchased from DH, but have heard of bad online reviews about them. I would urge you not to take that chance. I recently bought a gown from one of those cheap sites called weddingtrail.com. The company boasts high quality designer dresses at cheap prices. That should have been a red flag right there. I was trying to save money. First thought was that it looked alright, but it definitely did not look the way it was advertised. I decided not to wear it because the quality was a so disappointing. I ended up buying a new one at David's Bridals, and yes..in total it did cost me more because they would not refund me.

Hey Robin, can you tell me on a scale from 1-10 how good dressilyme.com was and how their product material was? Also how was the shipping, because i kinda need my prom dress very very quickly and I want to know how reliable they are! Plus where are they shipping from?

For the price I would say the material and craftsmanship was a 9, I wouldn't give it a ten because the material was ivory in some pics and white in others...weird, it took about 25 days for them to make it and arrive at my door. It comes from China :/

There is nothing wrong with trying to save money, but buying gowns from sites featuring stolen photos sounds like flushing money to the toilet. the bottomline is you are paying for the stolen photos. they take the money you paid, start work on the gown based on the photos you see. seriously, how good can you expect the gown to be? if they were a real company or a real factory with some integrity, why didnt they have the gowns they made photographed professionally and sell them from the site directly? if copying these design photos and having a paypal account is all it takes to get a gown business going, i guess all of us can get the business off the ground, think about it!

I would recommend www.theweddingdresses.com. The dresses I ordered arrived on time for my event. The quality was excellant and all were beautifully lined. I would not hesitate to recommend Light in the box to a friend. The only thing I would do differently would be to order exact measured garments for a better fit.

I had a HORRIBLE experience TWICE with DhGate! I wish I had read these reviews before I took that risk! The first dress they made the bottom portion of the dress WAY different from the picture; the second dress came out YELLOW! I disputed the first dress and got a partial refund, and I'm in process of disputing the second dress. I am really frustrated b/c by now I've spent nearly $500 on these two dresses, and I still don't HAVE a wedding dress! I should have learned my lesson such that I woudn't consider ordering again online, but I really don't have the budget to consider forking out $1000+ on an in-store dress now. I have found several dresses I like on both Amazon.com and ebay, which at least let you pay with Paypal and have better return policies. However, I have talked to the sellers, and they admitted that they are also in China. Recommendations? What are returns like on dressilyme and theweddingdresses.com? Anyone heard of idreamprom.com?

Yes I have and I was so incensed I blogged about it here:

    http://hell4heather.com/2011/07/12/the-i-need-a-wedding-dress-blog/

My wedding was very nearly ruined and I never got all my money back. I see some people had good experiences. I wouldn't chance it and have come here specifically to post this as I don't want anyone else to go through what I did.

I bought a gorgeous second hand dress from eBay in the end at the last hour and it was stunning. Seriously, better to buy second hand or hire if lack of funds take you to a site like this as in my case. Best of luck XXX

I am looking at a site called Weprom dress. I really love the dress I found. I figure that with the money I am saving I will be able to modify or have it altered if needed. I found my dream dress for $190...$200 if I want it custom fitted...I am going to have the custom fitting. Did you get measurements before you ordered your dress? That is my biggest concern. I am worried that I won't order it in time or that I will order wrong. lol
