Has anyone done a Beach house wedding

cynthia, on March 17, 2013 at 11:11 PM Posted in Planning 1 21

Im looking into renting a beach house and having the reception there. So trying to see if its cheaper just to have it some place that provides the tables, chairs and dance floor or if its about the same.

My cousin had her wedding at a beach house in outer banks, NC it was a lot of fun! Ceremony was going to be on the beach but it was really windy from bad weather so she had it in the yard. She rented a tent in case it rained, which it did. One of the best weddings I've been to. Why? Because we didn't have to leave at any particular time. We partied til the sun came up. It was more relaxing too. She had food catered and hired a bartender, music she had her I pod set up and her brother volunteered to kind of mc the wedding. It was great!

My sister had her wedding in a small town just outside of Destin,FL. They got married on a beach and we walked up to the beach house and had the reception there under the porch area(the big driveway) area. With a few decorations it was beautiful! We ended up renting the beach house for an entire week so her venue cost compared to mine(which will be on a local farm and reception under a large pavilion) hers will have cost about $800 more than mine. But she will of course have rented her place for an entire week where I would only have mine thursday-monday morning and not be able to sleep there.

Just a side note(this was a few years ago so rules may have changed but this is how it was in 2007): if planning a beach ceremony they usually require permits for that....she got married at a very unbusy part of the beach where there were a lot of personal homes and no hotels so not a lot of people on the beach so she skipped getting a permit and was just fine but if getting married on a public beach you may want to think about it. The last thing you want is to get fined on your wedding day.

Oh and another side note: Some of the beach houses we looked into had STRICT NO PARTY rules. So I would look into that. Her wedding only had about 30 or so people but a lot of the rentals would not allow it. And there could have ended up being some trouble if we would have tried to "sneak" a 30 person reception in a NO party house.

One of my friends rented a beach house on anna maria island, on private beach which was nice, the house was huge, but they set up the reception outside, & it was packed & tight, if your going to have a small guest list its a great idea, but if your guest list is rather on the larger size I would find a venue, or find another beach house that has more space.

Another one of my friends on married on the beach (AMI) & held her reception at AMI community center, it was very nice!!! ( short drive as well)

& my aunt just got married at Tropic Isle Inn on bradenton beach, they have a private beach as well, she had her ceremony on the beach & her reception on the beach they had a big tent with lights & tiki torches it was beautiful & romantic!

Most hotels & Inns on the island require a mininum # of rooms depending on season & what day it will take place on.. example at Tropic Isle Inn, Sunday thru Thursday have a 1 room minimum stay required. Weddings Friday and Saturday have a 10 room minimum

We are having a destination wedding in Florida, on the gulf coast! I've looked into beach houses & they are nice but kinda expensive. Also, I had to factor in the fact that not all guests could fit in the beach house as well. The majority of my guests are out of town guests so that wouldn't work! However, if it's in your budget, go for it! They're very convenient & nice!

I found some on simpleweddings.com & if you just do a google search for Sarasota, they have a lot too.

    Good luck!

My FH and I looked into doing a beach house wedding (WA coast) but with all the add-ons it was more exspensive than going with a venue. It was the same way when we were figuring out wether to DYI food or hire a caterer. I would definitely think about what type of reception you guys are wanting. Beach house seeems like it would be more of a chill reception than party. Which is fine if that is what you want (that is what my FH and I are going for). Also keep in mind your guest count. Like Jennifer W. said if you have a large guest count it could get cramped. Good Luck!

What I have been looking at with the beach house is most of the wedding party has to fly in. So we would all would put money towards the house its looking like 300 per person for the week on the beach is not bad. If I do it at the house I can buy my own alcohol so that saves but its finding the right place that going to be hard to getting marred ladies lol

Im in the Destin area and looked into a beach house. You have a min. night stay. For us it was a little more expensive because we live here so we really didnt need.it that long. So we are getting married on the beach. only 200. ( if you have 50 or more there are fees and contracts to sign). But still not bad. $100 of.that is.returned if no damage to beach.

I am getting married in mirimar beach on 2/29/20 and having the reception at a home on the beach. There are so many homes that you are able to have the reception with an extra $500-$750 fee. We are taking our closest family members and friends for a vaca/wedding for 4 days then heading to Greece for our honeymoon/ alone time. We ended up renting 2 houses next to each other in Avalon beach estates. Our house cost $4300 w all fees for 4 days. It sleeps 28guests so it’s not bad I thought. After looking at so many venues in my area (Tampa) I liked this idea the most. I’ve done extensive research so I think it’ll work out just fine. We paid a company $1500 to marry us on the beach and take care of all the ceremony arrangements. Most of our guests will walk across the road but those who want to drive across the street can because there is parking. We are debating other parts of the beach though. Beware though Because some houses say no parties or events. I’d just make sure it’s mentioned when booking. Has anyone else ever done this? Any other tips from experience ??

Hi!! Our wedding is on the 29th of this month in Miramar Beach... be booked the house through fivestargulfrentals.com
When looking at these houses I was Taking into consideration what I would do if there was rain that day. Several of the houses up there have big open spaces inside that would accommodate if needed.. I have loved planning my wedding and already sad that it’s almost over lol ... considering doing wedding planning on the side afterwards.
