Has anyone done an Advocare 24 day challenge?

Jenn B, on March 4, 2016 at 12:17 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 20

H and I just started yesterday but i'm finding that it's super hard to know when to take everything. Like, it just doesn't seem to be thoroughly laid out.

Have any of you done one? Have good results?

I have. I lost around 8 pounds, but good grief. Taking all those vitamins was redic. By day 15, I was so over it.

Real food > fake food and supplements.

There's no fake food involved Chrissy.

We're eating pretty much whole 30-ish.. just adding in the supplements.

Kristy- it's a series of supplements- like fiber, fish oil, etc. It's a lot of work to remember to take everything at different times of day... but i do feel more energized?

I'm doing a challenge currently, mostly it helps me to really kick start clean eating because you have to cut so much out for 24 days. I eat real food the entire time. You can absolutely do it without the vitamins and stuff, but I think they help me. Just following the diet plan in the free pdf would be a great start.

eta: I set alarms on my fitbit, so that it vibrates when I'm supposed to take my vitamins. You could also just set an alarm on your phone, you'll get used to it after a few days.

I did it once. I lost like six pounds. However, I don't think it was worth the $200 you have to pay for it. I'd rather just eat better and do it on my own.

My brother followed their eating plan without taking the supplements/shakes and lost 28 pounds. It all boiled down to him cutting out unnecessary calories from eating out almost every meal.

So you pay a ton of money for supplements you can get for like $5 on amazon and then eat healthy? Yeah...Advocare is a scam.

I did it, and hated it. I barely lasted 2 weeks.

My coworker is doing it and loves it, and he's lost a noticeable amount of weight. The amount of vitamins he has to take seems crazy though. The spark was tasty though, he gave one to me and it was actually good!

I definitely think the price is outlandish- unless it works I guess? I mean. Yes. Eating better and exercising = weight loss. But I really struggle to lose (thyroid troubles) so I figured the supplements could help.

I guess i'll find out in 22 days.

Kerri- what did you hate about it?

I do feel like I get like a bit of a crash when the Spark wears off. But they do give me a lot of energy!

Thanks for the tip Rebecca. I have an appointment next week- so i'll be sure to bring it up. Definitely don't want to do something stupid.

I always felt hungry, but the supplements made me feel so sick. So it was always a catch 22. By the end of 14 days I was mad. Weak. Hungry. And sick. Don't get me wrong, I lost weight, but I did not feel healthier. If that makes sense.

I did herbalife which is similar and lost 20lbs in a 3 months. - I wasn't 'astringent' about it and skipped shakes sometimes - that being said it's a meal replacement so as long as you don't dog down 1200 calories at your 1 meal you should be on track to lose. I'm back on it again because I want to lose weight and get my bp down, and I'm sick of cooking and making dirty dishes to wash.

I did it. Buuuut I hated it. I barely got past the fiber drink. I had to stand over the sink in case I gagged.

Did it once...it was terrible. Wayyyy too many supplements and stuff. I was taking like 10 pills a day or something stupid like that. The shakes were gross too. I was not a fan at all. I finished it and lost 6 lbs, but I think I would have lost that without all the supplements just by eating right and working out.

Please be very careful with their drinks and especially their energy mix. It's known to cause kidney stones. My brother was hospitalized for it and that was the first thing the doctor asked. It's actually banded in his barracks because so many people had issues
