Has anyone ever CUT their invites???

Jessica, on January 2, 2012 at 1:40 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 11

So I already purchased all the paper I need to make my petal invites but am having a very hard time finding cheap invites to use as inserts (I need 100-125 invites!!!).

Would it be so terrible if I got the VP postcard sized cards and set up my invite so I can trim that extra 1/2 of an inch off? I got some for Thank You cards and when I measured it was just under that.

I already went to Office Max to have my paper cut on their machines and it was $1-something per cut (and can cut 150 pieces of paper at a time). So the cost to trim off that edge wouldnt cost me.

I think I am gonna dabble today with a paper cutter and one of the thank yous and see how it works.

If you do it, I would go to kinkos (or something) and use their giant paper cutter that is out on the floor (free) to cut the invite to get a clean cut and not use scissors.

Good luck with the mock up.

I would recommend having them digitally printed and trimmed to the size you need. I would be happy to provide a quote for printing your design to fit your custom size inserts. You can email me at *******@*******.*** for more information.

Actually you can try any printing place and ask if you can use their paper cutter. It's usually just sitting out in the open where anyone can use it. In the town I live in all 4 printing places (all different companies) allow anyone to use the paper cutter for free. You just have to ask.

I have a very nice paper cutter for scrapbooking but I thought to make it 100% uniform I would need something more industrial...

Havent played around yet cause FH really wanted to start our registry. lol- we were like little kids running around the store with the gun.

I bought a paper cutter from Micheals for my STDs and will use it for my invites too, it was $19 and I used one of their coupons, It does a great job, the measurements and lines make it easy for anyone (translate=me, not good at this kind of thing at all can do it ). Mine all came out 100% uniform, (again I lined everything up using the guides on the cutter), but keep in mind, your guest wont be comparing their invitations next to the others, only you will Smiley smile

We did all of our invites/programs/menus/etc ourselves so we had to cut everything. We are both teachers so we used the paper cutters at school. I would def not recommend using scissors...i would take them somewhere to have them cut esp if it wont cost you to much

I have one of those giant paper cutter things at my office and sometimes it pulls the paper a little and doesnt go strait. What I did for a different invite was measured what I wanted to cut off and used an exacto knife and a ruler. Turned out wonderful.

The paper cutter worked okay but I did the exacto knife technique with the lining of the envelopes and the edge was beautiful...

I am still gonna keep hunting for cute-cheap square invites... but I do feel confidant that I could cut VP ones if needed. I dont have official start times yet anywho.
