Has anyone ever won a honeymoon at a Bridal Fair? Is it a scam?

I attended a bridal fair yesterday and I signed up for all kinds of giveaways. One i remember was that 4 couples would win a honeymoon package. Well, I just got a call saying that my fiance and I had were one of the four couples! I was so excited that I can't even remember the company's name now!...

Well, I just got a call saying that my fiance and I had were one of the four couples! I was so excited that I can't even remember the company's name now!

She said that we won their exclusive cookware set and the honeymoon package.

She said that we'd have to go to the doubletree hotel for a dinner tomorrow night with the other couples and have some chef cook on the cookware for us. Then we would sit and talk about which vacation voucher we would be taking. We will have to pay for our own airfare/transportation.

I asked if we would be purchasing anything at the dinner and she goes, "No! You WON! We aren't selling it to you! It's yours!"

She did say that they would have more of their kitchen appliances available for purchase if we wanted.

She is going to call tomorrow to confirm that we wil be there.

Scam or no?

Thank you ladies, we are definitely not going. I googled the number and it let me to a lot of forums from different sites saying it's a cookware scam. Apparently if you don't buy the cookware, they find some "reason" you don't qualify for the honeymoon voucher.

My mom won one back in 2001 when she got married to my step dad, all they had to pay for was transportation and everything else was included. They went to Aruba and had a amazing time, and would never had been able to afford it without winning that. I would go to the dinner thing and if you have to buy something, just back out, if thats not that case, ENJOY the free honeymoon! Smiley smile

Depends where you won, my bff and I attended the DC Bridal Show last year and she won a luxury honeymoon to Anguilla, and it wasn't a scam. They did have to pay for their airfare, which doesn't seem like "you won a free honeymoon" but the resort they stayed at (Viceroy in Anguilla) was amazing and top notch and completely free. The show gives a trip away every year, usually just pays for the hotel accommodations and not the airfare. I would go, it's worth a shot.

Hey! We are a vendor that has participated at the Bridal Bazar in San Diego. I (the founder) have attended a workshop on how to run a successful booth at a bridal convention. One thing that I learned was that if you give something away, like a honeymoon, then people/brides will sign up giving you their contact info which you can then use for marketing purposes. The vendors that I know that do this are legit. It's a pretty common practice whether it's a honeymoon - or a catering gig - or flowers...I would recommend asking a lot of questions so that you know exactly what you have won to make sure that it will be a fun honeymoon. Hope this gives a little insight... Smiley smile That being said, congrats!

IT IS NOT A SCAM! NOT NOT NOT A SCAM! DH and I are getting 2 extra days in Cancun because we did this! All we had to do was sit through 90 minutes and pay $170 for taxes and registration for a all inclusive stay at a 5 star resort. So now we get to stay in Mexico for 9 whole days!

They tried and tried to get us to buy the cookware but all u have to do is say NO. Take the trip!
