Has anyone had a 'semi/nearly naked' cake?

We decided on a semi/nearly naked cake, but now I'm starting to worry that without the icing covering the entire cake, the cake will become dry. Did anyone with this type of cake have any issues?

Six pages of comments on a cake thread, and it's turned into this shitshow?

Any discussion of cake should be six pages of, "when and where can I eat this cake?" Good Lord.

@ Bailey. You post on an opinion forum then get mad when people give you their opinion. Naked cakes look tacky.

I would think it depends on the type of cake, for example pound cake might dry out? Either way I would ask your baker. And we need to remember even if we dont agree on something the bride isnt wrong. We all have a right to our day.
