Has anyone had their wedding dress not fit?

Omg this is my biggest wedding fear! I purchased my dress in 2019 also, and put on a lot of weight during Covid. Right now, my dress doesn’t fit. It also has a sheer back, and I was told by multiple seamstresses that there is zero allowance to let out the sheer illusion. So basically I am going to have to lose the weight or buy a different dress. Have you seen a seamstress yet? If not, I would do so ASAP to see what alterations, if any, are available to you.

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear this, the same thing happened to me. Fortunately because of the style of my dress, the seamstress was able to add a "mini corset" for the 3-4 inches I needed it to close in the back. I also bought additional lace appliques and fabric from the designer directly so the "add-on" matched the rest of my dress. I would see what options your seamstress has for you-- if you'd be able to buy extra material from your dress designer and she can open up the sides (under your arms) if nothing can be done to the back, etc. I'd go sooner rather than later just in case you have to purchase a new dress. Don't panic! How long do you have until your wedding? How much weight do you think you'll need to lose to fit into the dress? Have you spoken to a seamstress to see what your options are?
