Has anyone here ever submitted a request to David Tutera? *update*

krystle d, on June 4, 2012 at 9:49 PM Posted in Community Conversations 1 32

My adorable FH surprised me and sent in a request to feature our wedding to David Tutera's show My Fair Wedding a couple months ago. Today we actually got a response asking if we'd be willing to change our wedding date around and if this would be a deal breaker. Sounds promising but I don't want to get my hopes up. Has anyone here ever gone through this? I'm just in shock that we actually got a reply! All thanks to my thoughtful FH lol

*well after I posted this we got a phone call from the casting producer to send in an application and video. We have to do this by Friday! So I submitted the 10 pg app this morning and we're making the video tomorrow. So exciting that we've even made it this far. Wish us luck!*

I would hate having him control my wedding! I know you get all this fancy stuff, but all the times I watch it I feel like it isn't about what the bride and groom want, but what he thinks they should want.

    So short answer- no.

I agree Shellie. Not just the scale and decor of the wedding, but even the dress and rings. There's been times the bride's really liked a dress when trying the options on, and than the day comes and he gives her a different dress. So, nope never submitted ours. If there's ever a show where they just give me $50k, and I get to do whatever I want than I would submit every day.

I am totally open to having David Tutera change everything around my wedding is all over the place lol. Plus we have a non existent budget so it would be AMAZING if we got chosen. Just hoping we stand a chance with the other brides out there!

I'm not surprised you got a response - I just looked at your pics and you and your FH are both beautiful!

I've heard about working with David from other professional wedding vendors, and they all say that he is amazing to work with in person - and that the television show is highly edited to show the most dramatic moments and heighten the tension. The brides actually have a great time, and usually, they actually get the dress they really want, they just shoot the show in a way that makes it look more dramatic.

There would be so many benefits to working with him, so if your date can be changed around, I'd go for it!

Just so you know, you are not able to keep your dress. It's borrowed from MOST (not all) of the shops. If you're not married to your date, I say go for it. I read a personal blog of a former DT bride and she said she loved working with him. I think Cindy Campione is probably right about the editing.

I emailed him like 10 times, lol. No luck here. I even told him about my initial idea to have a mechanical bull. Hah.

I would change my date for him, even though I love my date!

    Good luck!

NO. I'm a total control freak with details. Plus, his style is not my style.

If it was a coordinator I actually liked (Jill La Fleur or Lisa Vorce!) I would totally let them do everything (hoping they just stick with general theme).

Thank you Cindy! We aee definitely not married to our date. We are having out wedding at FIL's house and we havent booked anything yet. So its no biggie to us. Plus we had to cut our guestlist just so everyone could fit. So 120 guest limit for us would be perfect. It's funny because we don't even have a crazy theme or anything so I'm not sure whats going to happen. I just hope I hear some kind of response soon!

I like that show but when he starts in his whisper mode (you know when he's senimental towards seeing the girl for the first time) I want to scream lol so annoying hahaha. I personally would not go on that show but I do like his ideas, go for it, if you can!!

There is no way I would want David Tutera controlling our wedding day. The only time he follows what the couple wants is when HE likes the theme. I hate when a couple wants to have something like a Halloween wedding and he tries to make it a "French masquerade ball." It's not the same thing and it irritates me to no end.

If you are really open with your date and your ideas, it would be fun to have him gussy up your day, but if you're someone who has a set idea of what you want, you'd better hope he likes it or you won't have it.

Well we don't even have a theme our colors are just black n white. I don't know what his vision would be as long as he doesn't use hot pink ill be fine lol. What I'm most nervous about is being on tv if we ended up being picked lol

Lol well if you don;t want to be on tv or are nervous then probably not a good idea! I would not mention the pink either cause then he'll do it for sure!

Lol I wouldn't mind being on tv but since it would be my first time of course I'd be nervous at first. And I won't mention pink! Lol
