No, but it is my biggest fear. I would never forgive myself if I lost it. That is one reason I never take it off. I am too scatterbrained and might walk off and leave it laying somewhere and never find it again.

I haven't, but I can't say I won't ever. But I have State Farm and I pay I think 1% of what the ring costs a year to have it insured and then it's no questions asked if you lose it-they just replace it. You can do it with anything you want-laptops, regular jewelry, whatever...

I only take it off at home, and I always put it in the same place (its own box). As I've discussed in other threads, I absolutely cannot sleep or shower wearing it (not only is it uncomfortable, but I'd worry about staining it with my hair). But I do think that I can reduce the risk of losing it significantly by ALWAYS putting it away in the same place. :-)

I'm with Cabell I wear it during the day and at night I put it in it's box same place every day. I don't shower or clean with it.

I try not to take it off at all because I lose things ALL the time! The one time I took it off is to bed one day cus sometimes if I wear rings they start bothering me....which is why ever since I got engaged, I never wear any other rings. So the one time I took it off, I put it in it's box on my end table and then the next morning I didn't realize I didn't have it on until I was out of the house and I kept having images of my dogs knocking it over and then getting it out of the box and swallowing it or something crazy like that LOL!

I dropped mine while putting it in my jewelry box a while back. I looked for it for 20 minutes. I started to think the floor ate it. Finally I took the bottom drawers out of my dresser and there it was. It had bounced underneath and into a spot the flashlight wasn't able to catch.

I'm with Jenn and cannot say it enough - insurance insurance insurance. I just had all of my jewelry stolen this weekend and I know the first thing that bastard did was go for my shinny ring box where my ring is in the rare event I take it off (thank god I had it on). If you think of the likelihood of misplacing your ring, loosing a stone, having it stolen, etc over the course of 50 years insurance will almost always pay off.

I thought I lost it in Hawaii in the ocean. I was a hysterical mess on the drive back to our room only to find I took it off to put on lotion before we left!

    INSURANCE!!!

I've never lost mine but we went to the jeweler's to get it cleaned a few weeks ago and while we were there, there was a couple looking at engagement rings and the girl keep saying "that's the one, that's the one I want" then her FH said "ok, once you prove to me you can't lose this one (pointed to her finger with a 25 cent ring on it) after 6 months then you'll get that one" Come to find out...she'd lost, COMPLETELY lost 2 engagement rings in their 4 month engagement!

My FH looked at me and said "yea, lose that one and you're getting a 25 cent one too" lol

I didn't exactly loose it. I was cooking dinner and set my ring on top of the microwave. I ended up burning the rice and went to turn on the garbage disposal and knocked the ring right down the drain. I did get it back. Well then my second ring the diamond fell out and I lost it.

A great suggestion from the jeweler who made my ring - get your ring appraised every few years, and resubmit the appraisal to your insurance company. Diamonds and precious metals certainly aren't going to get less expensive, and it would stink to lose or have something happen to your ring years down the road, and get far less from your insurance company than it would take to replace it.

My ring is still on order at the store we purchased it from :-( but even though it is not on my finger yet, I still have a HUGE fear of loosing it! I plan to never take it off so that I wont but even then I worry that I will loose it in the shower or when I wash my hands. My Fiancee and I have discussed getting insurance on it but have been undecided on whether or not to do it, though after reading all these posts, I'm thinking we should.

jennhutch, I have state farm too. Is this something you tacked on to your current auto policy or does it have it's own policy? I'm very interested in using statefarm as my ring insurance company. I didn't know they did that! Thanks!

I almost lost mine (I have 2). I either wear gloves or take them off when Im at work. I put them in my pocket. Then I couldnt find one of them. I searched every where. I got called in to cover the next day and I found my missing ring on the floor of the mail truck. Now when I take them off, I put them in my wallet.

I always put my engagement ring in the same place when I take it off. The other day I forgot to put in on but remembered because my fh was talking about the actuall wedding band. I looked and loooked all over and was actually freaking out thinking I lost it but didn't want to say anthing. Well he had it in his pocket the WHOLE time. he wanted to replace the diamond with as bigger one but felt bad that I was freaking out. He's silly! He didn't like the ring I picked out because he thinks it was too small. I LOVE IT!

@ All Mine that was silly of him. You have a great guy! The only reason I got a new ring was b/c the diamond fell out of the last one. I got to choose my new one and went with a 4 carat blue topaz ring with 1/10th carat diamonds and a white gold band. I don't like yellow gold and I got it for a good deal.

Elizabeth, I don't know why but I'm not exactly a jewlery type of girl!! I told him for our 10 year he can replace the diamond with a bigger one like he wants!! My ring is on my profile if ya want to take a look. I don't like yellow gold either.

We have been engaged for 12 years... I always said I would never get married (never say never)! I lost my orignal engagement ring about a year after I got it (I have 2) and found it 3 years later. It had come off of my finger when I was packing my sons "keepsake" baby clothes. 3 years later I decided to consolidate his "keepsake" stuff in a new container and found my ring. We had no money to replace it with a real one so I wore a CZ one for a long time.

I always put it in the same place if I take it off. So when I first got the ring I placed it in my spot so that I could wash the dishes. I finished washing them and then came to get my ring but it wasn't there. My heart almost fell to my feet, or so it felt. I was like "I know I put it there" but I didn't want to panic because FH was there and if I did lose it I didn't want him to know because he would freak out too. So I tried my best to hide it and we went outside to sit on the patio. He looked at my face and said "what's wrong" and I wanted to cry and said "I can't find my ring!!!" He pulled it out of his pocket and had a huge grin on his face, he had put it there to make me think I lost it!!! I could have killed him!! That is after my heart starting beating again, lol!!
