Has anyone quit their jobs recently before getting married?

I'm not quitting my job because of wedding planning. I originally wanted to stick it out at my current job until after I get married, but that isn't until August 2021 and I really don't like my job. I haven't started wedding planning that much so it's not the stress from wedding planning that makes me want to quit. This job just makes me dread working every single day and every weekend I worry about work until Monday rolls around again.

So my question is has anyone quit their job while planning for their wedding? Did you have enough saved for most of the wedding before quitting? Or did you work some odd jobs for extra income before finding what you really wanted to do? I'm nervous since the economy is so bad now I won't be able to find a job for many months. But I've been thinking about quitting for a while now and trying to come to terms with the fact that I'll have to scale down on the wedding a lot.

I do have a good amount of money saved up, but I just don't understand how people save up for a wedding, a down payment and retirement! Why does everything in this world cost so much?! Just wanted to see if anyone out there is in the same boat as me.

The thing with wedding planning is that usually you'll come across unexpected expenses as you go. For that reason, I recommend having steady income as you plan. Otherwise, the stress of planning mixed with not having enough money will feel far worse. You just don't want to regret quitting and not having a financial replacement. Then everything you want to do for the wedding may feel like a compromise. Do what you know you can live with in the end.

I wouldn't quit until you have something else lined up. I'm a stay at home mom but I also have a business that I run from home as postpartum doula and work has certainly been slow since covid hit the US.

Even though we are planning a tiny wedding (pre-covid) its still stressful doing everything on one income without my doula money as extra funds to offset the wedding.

When I started to plan my wedding I saw that my current work takes too much of my time and I can't do both things effectively. So I just decided to quit and I don't regret at all. All in all, it's not that hard to find a new job these days, all those job boards can help you to do it in no time.
