Has anyone used Honeyfund for their honeymoon ?

Ashley, on September 3, 2018 at 1:30 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6
I set up an account. I have no idea where to start or what to do on it. And I’d like to know if it’s legit. We want to go to a beach but I don’t know how that works out

Please dont use honeyfund. It takes money from your giftgivers as a fee. If someone gives you $100, you only get $95, for example. It is also rude to ask for money from wedding guests, an event when s gift is actually optional. If you dont register or have a small registry, people will still give you money without you having to ask for it.

I agree with Cuoghi. Also if you intend to go on your honeymoon right after your wedding then you will need to pay for it yourself and not rely on money you may get from your guests.

Honeyfund and other such sites are viewed very negatively around here. If you want cash rather than gifts, create a very small registry, people will get the hint.

Honeyfund is not great. The fee is not the lowest and they make you open up a paypal business account just to get your money. I regretted making one.

Okay. I’ll probably delete the account. I just didn’t know how it worked. Thanks for the input

So for me, the negatives are that you're asking for money (can be considered rude or tacky), they take money from what your guests give you (even if it's a small percentage), and it takes several weeks to hit your account. If it were me, I just wouldn't register anywhere. People will get the hint and give you cash or checks, which you can use almost immediately. You'll just have to book your honeymoon on credit cards and hope you are gifted enough or book your honeymoon after the reception.
