Has anyone used VRBO for honeymoon or have all inclusive suggestions

KBM, on July 8, 2012 at 7:38 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 18

Trying to find an affordable honeymoon and someone suggested vrbo.com. Anyone have any experience with them? Or any affordable suggestions. We are spending all our money on wedding so not much left over for honeymoon.

I rented our honeymoon condo in Puerto Rico through VRBO.com. We leave in a month! It was a really painless process too...and cheaper than a hotel, by far! Just be sure to talk to the owner by phone after the initial emails. I believe that's one of the stipulations for the fraud protection.

VRBO was recommended to me when we mentioned going to Hawaii =) We have a family member that travels quite often and she swears by it....we did not use vrbo for our trip because FH wanted a specific resort but I definitely checked them out and I would have used it had he not been dead set on something else. (I guess what I'm really saying is I trust and value the opinion of the family member that suggested vrbo)

We have three rented condos for our HI wedding that we booked through VRBO. The nice thing is you can negotiate. I basically formed a standard reply on the site asking if the owner would take a certain dollar amount and about half agreed and then I picked from there based on location and style of the units. Make sure you only check the properties that have been owned for a few years, my rule is 5, and that have a mostly 5 star reviews. It will give you a piece of mind that you are getting a good deal with a reputable owner.

I did not use it for the HM, but we used it for my bachelorette and family vacations. I've had positive experiences with it.

If you're looking for all inclusives look on cheapcarribean.com or tripadvisor.com to figure out best places to go for bang for your buck. Carole M is a wealth of AI knowledge too!!

We didn't have a honeymoon, but we used VRBO for the house where we and all our guests stayed the night before our wedding and our wedding night. We had a great experience with it. We were able to locate a property that could accommodate up to 20 people, that was not too far from our ceremony, and see pictures of it before we booked. And it was a lot less impersonal than a hotel.

I used VRBO to rent houses in the outerbanks for vacation with friends and also with family. I didn't have any issues using them for the house rental but don't know about all-inclusives.

My nephew got married a year ago in Jamaica. The flights were very inexpensive to start. We all stayed at a Sandals resort, which is all inclusive. The only extras you pay for are spa treatments and amenities ans offsite excursions. We upgraded and received another upgrade when we arrived so we had a huge room that overlooked the swim up suites and the beautiful beach! The food was amazing and we loved it so much we are heading to Sandals Grande Antigua for our honeymoon this September!

We've used VRBO many times - it really just depends on the property owner what kind of experience you have. We've stayed in a variety of places and always had a great experience!

PM me if you are interested in Playa del Carmen, I love the place we stayed there.

We are very limited on the HM budget. So we are thinking of driving to Hilton Head. Anyone been? Know of any good deals? Or used VRBO there?

Hilton Head is a great place. I have been there a couple timese. The beach is beautiful There is a long bike walking path that is a nice day adventure. The area down by the lighthouse is fun for dinner (beautiful sceery) and shopping. Also if you are golfers the courses are great!

Not sure of any deals out there and I didn't use VRBO when I was there. But it is a great place for a honeymoon- relaxing and beautiful!

My parents have used it for many of our family vacations and based on their experience (and the price), we're booking ours through VRBO. Smiley smile

We are using VRBO and Homeaway to book condos for our wedding and honeymoon. We have friends who have used them and had great experiences. Just use common sense such as reading reviews and comparing prices. I have been able to find amazing deals on both of those sites. The condo we are looking to rent is going to cost us $1100 for 16 nights. Amazing deal. Good luck Smiley smile

If someone has used vrbo.com or homeaway.com for anywhere in South Carolina and can make a recommendation of a specific rental, please let me know. We are open to different areas but want to keep it drivable if possible.

I use VRBO for all of my vacations. I just got home from Marco Island Florida, and it was everything and more. Every summer I rent condos on cape cod, ma. Its easy and affordable and you get so much more than a hotel. Always read the reviews and never send cash or money order (check or paypal)! Happy hunting!
