has anyone used/purchased rose petals from a grocery store? (sams, costco)

Nicole, on June 11, 2014 at 6:39 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 7

I purchased fresh rose petals from Sam's club and they were shipped yesterday, expected to be here Friday, to use Saturday. i'm scared they will be shriveled and dead by then?! anyone have experience with these? i'd like to think they keep them cold during shipment but i highly doubt that.

and i just realized they're coming from Quito, Ecuador!! ahhh

What store was it? I'm thinking of doing this too. How much were they? For how much?

We purchased 100 yellow roses from Costco (they were $86). We had them arrive the Friday before our Sunday wedding and they were perfect. We took the roses apart the morning of and put them in big zip loc bags with a moist paper towel and stored them in the fridge until that evening. (Ceremony was at 6pm) we had enough to line our aisle, for cones to hang on the chairs, for our flower girl, then some to sprinkle on the sweetheart/cake/welcome tables AND we saved about 9 roses to put in a vase at home Smiley smile

Edit: Ours were also shipped from Ecuador.

The flowers ship via cold storage so you won't have the issue you would have in a normal venue of shipment.

I have been looking at Sam's or Costco for the same thing. Glad to hear something positive! I'm a member of Sam's and my parents have a Costco membership, so I figure I have my pick.

Yeah i didnt even look into Costco since we dont belong there but the coordinator at my venue told me that their roses by the dozen are fairly cheap, not sure if they have just petals, but you could just buy those and peel the petals off yourself like someone mentioned above. that was gonna be my last resort was buying a bunch of roses and doing that but luckily i found some on sams!

I'm sure you could! It might be cheaper than going to an actual floristSmiley smile
