Hashtags?

FutureMrsAmatangelo, on October 18, 2017 at 3:07 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

So I always see people post fun stuff on social media with hashtags for their wedding, but my FH last name is long and heck even took me forever to learn how to spell I don't expect our guests to get it right. Do you guys have any fun hashtag ideas or is the idea of those for a wedding lame?

    They're not necessary.

You can use your first names, nicknames, your wedding theme, or even an inside joke!

I won't have one. I plan to have an "unplugged" ceremony so then it's just the reception. People will probably just tag.

I am super lame, and I was proud of it lol, but I chose to have a hashtag! FH last name is 'Epps' so I did #Eppsolutelyinlove (kinda like absolutely, but Epps, cause I'm punny! Smiley tongue) and I have heard nothing but good things and compliments on it thus far! I think they are really fun, and add a personal element that people can use to feel involved on their social media posts! Plus, what better way to scroll through social media pics your guests post than to have a hashtag? But just like everything else, it's a personal preference!

I also think that tying it into your theme of nightmare before Christmas would be awesome!

The hashtag helped for mine. Not everyone tagged us, but most used the hashtag. We would have missed some photos.

Remember that a photo with a hashtag only shows up if the poster's account is public or you are friends with them. A lot of people say they don't work, but I'd be willing to bet it's more about the poster's privacy settings.

Anywho. Do something short and simple - easy to remember and spell.

I'm in the same boat as you - long last name that hasn't meshed well with a cute phrase, so I might just do last name and year (which is lame compared to the amazing puns people think of!!) I think it's nice to have them all collected together under 1 hashtag for you to look at or others to enjoy

I've also seen people combine last names like if her name is Smith and his is Johnson - #Smithson or #Johnsmith
