Hated my trial!

I'm so upset! I really really hated my makeup trial. I love all this makeup artists work. She always does an amazing job and I am so disapointed that I really hated how I looked. I am pale and have red hair. She made my eyebrows soooo dark they looked almost black and my skin was at least 4 shades...
I'm so upset! I really really hated my makeup trial. I love all this makeup artists work. She always does an amazing job and I am so disapointed that I really hated how I looked. I am pale and have red hair. She made my eyebrows soooo dark they looked almost black and my skin was at least 4 shades darker then it is naturally. Im so sad. I already hired her for the day and to top it off shes basicly family. She is my fiances cousin girlfriend. What do I do! I know I can tell her what to change and what I would prefer but i feel so unconfident going into the wedding having hated my trial! I know I can ask for a second trial but I really don't want to spend $100 all over again. What do you suggest? I told her I liked golden brown natural tones. I think she heard gold and ran with it..... there is nothing natural about it! I'm so upset.... only good thing is I know her makeup is waterproof.... I cried all the way to my hair trial because I felt I looked like a clown! My hair trial however went wonderful and I'm very happy with that. Here are some pictures. I also came home and put my own makeup on.... Its know where near as neatly done or finished looking as hers but it feels more natural to me. Pleasr help me figure out what to do without being upset or sounding too harsh to the MUA.

I agree your make up was on the darker side especially if that is not what you wanted. The choice of makeup affected the color of your hair. Because it just looks red at the make up trail. But at the hair trail your hair looks like a strawberry blond. Which your hair looks so beautiful!!!.

Agree! Agree! Agree!! All great advice! 👍🏼

Im so sorry you were so disappointed in your makeup, but this is really good advice and I agree that less is more with that hairstyle. One or 2 flowers will be a nice addition, but with how beautiful the style is, all those flowers take away from the true art that she created with your hair.

Not to be blunt, but: I thought the whole point of a makeup trial is so that you can discuss what to change and what to keep for your wedding day. If everyone got it perfect on the first try, then no one would ever pay for trials.

Do you have pictures of a time when she has done your makeup and you've liked it? Maybe you text/show her those and say this is more of what you were leaning towards? People think wedding and automatically go darker with our faces because of the light color of the dresses and just assume that's what we want vs natural look...just sit and have an honest conversation with her because you are paying for a service.

😍Your Beautiful, tell her the truth HONESTY best Policy. I used to not want to tell ppl about there work but why not, your paying for it. It’s your big day - it’s a trial so try again with a familiar person or Watch as she tries again and say “I don’t like it, it’s not me or what I expected”. . I think 🤔 it’s how you deliver the message. Be Nice but Truthful she will respect you for speaking up! It’s your DAY!

I think for women who don't have much experience with makeup or favor a natural look think the best option is to run. Did you explain your wants or did you just say golden tone eye? I am not seeing from these pictures that the foundation is too dark. The eyebrows yes are too dark. It seems even especially from the last photo the makeup photographs well, but if in person it still is seemingly dark for your taste, tell her to lighten it up! You either need to tell her your changes and be confident about it or pick someone else. Tell her the eyebrows are too dark and you NEED a better idea of how to translate to her your idea of brown golden tones. You should look up pictures of red head with natural makeup on, show her and tell her that's what you prefer. No offense but there's nothing natural about Jaclyn Hill's makeup or the second one you attached. That heavy bronzer the heavy liner and smokey eye aren't the natural vibe.

I definitely agree with Angelena. I think you need to choose different inspo pics or better explain what you'd like, because the makeup that of Jaclyn Hill is rocking in the pic is FAR from natural. Jaclyn LOVES full face high glam. From what I know about her technique that look probably took 18 products and over an hour to achieve. If you give a MUA a pic of Jaclyn they're first thought will probably be to give you full glam

Your hair looks amazing so long and full!. I would have been upset too with how she did the makeup especially after the Inspo pic. Eyebows make the face. I would say Look for another person unless she can try again.

I'm a fair redhead as well so I get it. But your eyebrows are the right shade, they should match your roots. She did a great job there. But I'm guessing you have eyebrows like me and don't fill them in regularly, so you're use to seeing them very light and barely there? It took me a while to get use to my eyebrows being filled in too.

Honestly, I think you look lovely. But if you're not comfortable, tell her the things you'd like changed for the day. That's the whole point of a trial, you don't have to sign off on it. She does the trial, you tell her what to change so that you feel more like you on the day. And then she makes those adjustments on the day of your wedding. But if you don't tell her, she'll never know.

So to me, your eyebrows don't look dark at all. But if they do to you, just bring your own eyebrow pallet for her to use! Did you express any unhappiness after she was done?

You say she is family but you are still paying her I find 100 for a trial a lot of money so if you are paying her then you can fire her just tell her you weren’t happy with how you looked so you want to find someone else.

Didn't say i wanted a natural look....just natural colors like browns not like pinks and purples. I know those looks are not natural but the shadow colors are not wild. I wanted a made up look with nutral or natural tones.....just not this dark

My hair is like 4 shades lighter then that. My roots everything are lighter. I do fill my eyebrows all the time with an auburn eyebrow gel. She used straight up dark brown. We already discussed using my gel. In the last pictures we had switched it to my stuff.

Okay it does seem like she blended the two colors ideas together like morphed it into this bronze tone rather than the distinct brown to gold it seems you want! I would just mention that to her! More smokey brown on the outside and it seems you want a more champagne gold on the inner eyelid. Hope that helps!

Your hair is gorgeous!!!! But , I agree that there is too much brown /gold. Although... keep in mind that you need a little more for pics. I woukd communicate that and see iff she coukd tone it down to a more natural look.

You can look up blondes too... they have a fair complexion and may find some nice makeup tutorials. I found a gorgeous fake flower on ebay. Its big, but its only one. It would look nice clipped in Smiley heart Just discuss with this girl. Maybe she is not the right pick for you too.
