Haunting Wedding Music Ideas

Pbryanrn79, on May 30, 2023 at 7:36 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

My Fiance and I are having a Dark Gothic Victorian Themed wedding on October 28, 2023. I'm looking for ideas for music to play at the ceremony. I've already seen posts about Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Sleepy Hollow, etc... but I'm looking for more. I've already found Escala (for a spin on classical), Phantom of the Opera Overture (call to attention), a haunting instrumental version of "Come Little Children" from Hocus Pocus by Myuu, but I still don't have anything for us to walk down the aisle to. We need something dramatic and epic, but not Toccata and Fugue! HELP!!!!

Not sure what your preferences lean towards but here is a list via a quick Google search:

Also take a look at Vitamin String Quartet and see if anything jumps out at you.

What about something like O'Fortuna by Carl Orff. I can listen to it over and over and over. It's a very deep sound and I think originally from the play Carmen.

I'd also look into your favorite movies/songs/plays and dig into those soundtracks, but go beyond that. Look who the performers are. As a couple, me and FH, have been enjoying the "modern" music that combines cello and piano from shows like Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte. We found the Piano Guys are awesome. I love the cello as the deep sound calls to me - but I typically think of violin for strings and it is totally NOT ME. I'd love to know how this goes for you!

Michael Jackson's Thriller song come to mind as it seems right for the theme and can be danced down the aisle.

"Paint it Black" cello instrumental version from Netlix's Wednesday.

"Enter Sandman" instrumental intro by Metallica

For fantastical happy vibes, "Starman" by David Bowie.

Carmina Burana by Orff are medieval drinking songs in German, but certainly dramatic.

Carnival of the Animals by Saint Saens could be a good one. There are several movements, Swan might work.

As soon as I hear the word haunting, I immediately think of the blink-182 song “I miss you”
