Have you ever heard of Transparent water gels??? *Pics*

NG, on May 27, 2013 at 11:46 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 22

So I was looking at vases for my centerpieces last night, when I ran into the most beautiful design: Pearls that look like they're floating in the vase!!! I love it, I think it looks great and I think I want to go with this for my centerpieces!!!

BUT, I wanted to get some feedback. Has anyone tried this? Apparently it's a gel you put in the water that keeps the pearls in place. I was thinking about adding food coloring to the water to get the color I want (the pearls don't come in orange or dark blue). I also think it's a cheap alternative to flower centerpieces.

Any suggestions, comments or concerns? LoL.

I know!!! I love it. And the pearls are like really cheap on amazon. The gels too. I want to do a trial one to see how it would look. I'm so excited about this, I don't even care if I have flowers anymore. LoL.

I like it! I haven't used them but I don't know about coloring the water...I personally like the clear. Have you looked on other sites for orange pearls?

Are they similar to water beads? those are the beads that come in a variety of colors that disappear as you fill it with water and can hold things in place... I've been thinking about doing something with them but I haven't decided yet.

Let us know how the trial goes!

What about Christmas ornaments instead of pearls? Or Maybe you can get some cool beads that wouldn't be too expensive?

I love the idea of clear water and I think this is really cool.

Also, what about colored candles instead of colored pearls?

Lauren, No, this like a powder that you mix in the water and it thickens it into a gel

Robin, I like the way you think!!! I like the colored candles idea...time to hit up walmart!!!

Glad to help! I do think that white pearls with colored candles would be really cool and different. Sort of funky-fun.

I absolutely want to see pics/hear about your trial!

I think you should wait until the Fall (orange items) and Christmas (dark blue items) go on sale if you can. There should be orange and dark blue items that you can use to go in your centerpieces. I'm going use water beads and floating candles for my centerpieces. Good luck in your search !!!

Hi. Have you tried this yet? I was looking at it also. I can only find them on amazon though. Have you found them in a store like Michaels or Hobby Lobby? Thanks!
