Have you gone over budget?

Lynnie, on May 21, 2019 at 11:25 AM Posted in Planning 0 124

If so - you're not alone!! Roughly half of couples spend more on their wedding than they originally planned! Have you gone over your budget already?

Innocent or guilty?

Guilty 😭 not a ridiculous amount but I wanted to spend less than my budget.

Innocent. I was shooting for 10k below my actual budget (40k thanks to mom and dad, they wanted the big wedding and I told them they had to pay to get it cause it's not really what we wanted) anyway but at this time, we are dead on track.

Innocent. We didn't set a budget per say. We have saved in some areas more than others. I can't say we have overspent on anything though.

Innocent. We were fortunate to have a really large budget to begin with so we are actually below budget.

Guilty! Our original budget the week we got engaged was $20K. We realized we would need a bit more, and upped it to $25K. As of right now, we are a few hundred dollars over. When all is said and done, I think we will be around $27K. Not bad for a Bay Area wedding in the middle of wedding season if you ask me, though!

Guilty. We are currently working on ways to cut spending in some areas to help bring it as close to the budget as possible.

Guilty! That first picture is so me initially... kidding! Mostly just had no idea what to expect or what to start, but starting to get more resourceful as we go which has been really good!

Guilty. Totally. but not by much. Our budget was unrealistic for what we wanted.

I haven’t spent anything yet, but with all my research I’m realizing it’s going to be extremely hard to stay under the $5k max we want to spend. I did get a phenomenal photographer to lower from $3200 to $2000 for us, so I consider that a HUGE win.

We never set a budget. But I did. I've gone over twice. Now I decided to just not set one and not over do it.

So far, not yet. But my venue is free and FILs surprised us by hiring a well known nice caterer.

TBH, didn't really set a budget. I estimated about $10,000 altogether, but it's over by a little.

Innocent. We don't have an actual budget per se, but are trying to keep things as low as possible. We are trying to DIY as much as possible, and a friend of FH is a budding florist and asked if she could do my bouquets for free if she can use them in her portfolio! My FH is a wedding DJ and is doing a trade swap (I'll DJ your wedding if you DJ mine) so we're doing well so far!

Guilty! However, we were a bit unrealistic for what we wanted. Still really good price though! Originally wanted for under 5k, now about 8k
