Sometimes it’s the truth and you are genuinely at risk of exceeding your venue’s max capacity - but sometimes it’s also just a convenient excuse to navigate awkward invitation conversations! Today we want to know how many of you have used this excuse as a white lie! Whether it was a second cousin asking to bring their three friends, co-workers you never talk to, or old friends coming out of the woodwork on social media - have you ever lied about your venue’s capacity to justify not inviting someone? Are you innocent or guilty?

Thanks! I hope so because there are so many we want there for the party but we cant go over the fire code for the church... And a full mass church wedding has always been my dream. Those friends would still get to come to the party part so hopefully it will go over well.

Guilty, but it ended up being the truth since we switched venues and can only have a certain amount of guests.

Wow, that's a good way to avoid needing to lie people!

Lol no not yet. But I may have to because there are plenty of people who are assuming they’ll be invited even tho I keep telling them that we’re having a small wedding.

YES! My venue can hold 165- only inviting about 80. Plus mine is like $145/head at the end of it all so I usually bring that figure up when my family makes too big of a stink about someone.

I think it's completely reasonable to consider how much you are spending per guest as a reason not to invite people! This really helps show who should be a priority and who is an unnecessary invite!

Yep. Someone flat out asked me why he never received an invite. we could have had a few more people with the size of our venue, but I told him we had to make a lot of cuts due to money and room at the venue. It made him feel better knowing that instead of me saying the truth, that he was never thought of to be invited in the first place.

ALL THE TIME!!! It's the perfect excuse along with the fact that I have a huge family so they take up so much room. My grandmother did tell me to uninvited a friend so my ratchet cousin and his hoodlum kids can come but i said NO to that one.

Nobody who isn't invited will ask me why. I am the brutally honest type and if you aren't invited I will painfully explain why you aren't being given details much less an invite. Rude questions get rude answers.

Nope. I'll invite who I want to, and not invite who I don't want there. It's our day not theirs. That's a bonus of paying for it ourselves.
