Have you over-estimated your DIY abilities?

Lynnie, on May 21, 2019 at 11:05 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 117

True craft gurus can make everything look easy! But just because you'd like to save some money through DIY projects, doesn't mean you have the crafting skills to make it happen!

Are you innocent or guilty of over-estimating your DIY abilities?

No, but I've certainly underestimated the amount of time that actually goes into creating them Smiley ups

Guilty. I'm ready to throw my centerpieces out the window (literally) as I type this.

I certainly have, but THANKFULLY I'm blessed to be surrounded by crafty people and they've saved me.

Guilty and innocent, a little of both. My mom and I tried making a welcome sign that was a complete fail but everything else we have been successful at. I'm not doing a ton of DIY.

So far, no. My DIYs have turned out great so far.
    I have DIYed the following:
    1. Centerpieces (although I keep changing what I'm putting in the mason jar)
    2. Sola Wood Flower Bouquets for bridesmaids and myself
    3. Boutonnieres for Groomsmen
    4. A little extra flair to my invitations
    5. Stringed Seed beads to sew on end of tulle fabric that will be hung on limbs in the oak trees at the reception. (This was truly just an after thought to help add a little weight and keep the breeze from blowing the tulle everywhere).

    Still have the following projects:
    1. Possibly Veil Trim
    2. Outdoor Partition
    3. Convert Halo Style headband from tie with ribbon to have combs.
    4. Tulle and yard stakes for "fence" around reception area
    5. Lace Embroidery Hoops to hang from porch

I haven’t started any of my projects yet, but I feel pretty confident and my MOHs are pretty crafty too so between the three of us we’ve got this.

No, according to FMIL, I'm not supposed to do anything, I'm supposed to hire others to do things for me. But I will be doing my own pew decorations and centerpieces regardless of what she says. Those and the signs are my only DIYs.

I'm pretty crafty so I'm not worried about it, BUT I did underestimate the amount of time it takes to create them. It would be MUCH easier if I had a cricut.

Not guilty, I know I'm only okay-ish so I only picked stuff I was absolutely comfortable with doing to DIY. Though I've had to seek some reassurance along the way

Considering majority of our wedding is DIY, probably, but we have A Lot of planning time. So far I'm not stressed out but my biggest DIY worry is sewing my dress. I know I am capable, it's just so important though.

Innocent, I’ve ordered DIY flowers but my wedding is small enough and I will have enough family with me to help.

Guilty, but not during wedding planning. I learned years ago that I am a pinterest failer.
