Background: I just moved out of state to be closer to my fiance. We're getting married in the Catholic church in his state because he has a disabled family member that can't travel. But I don't want my family traveling halfway across the country so I'm having a separate Mass back home. I know it's not the same as the sacrament, but I wanted it to be similar.
I didn't think it would be a big deal, but the priest at my home church told me that I "can only get married once" and that I can't walk down the aisle again, as an example. I still have a lot of questions for him that I need to clarify. It left me feeling discouraged. He said it would be an anniversary Mass. I'm afraid to ask if I can wear my wedding dress. I'm afraid he'll say no. Can he tell me what to wear? I was caught very off guard.
Has anyone been through a similar situation? Thanks so much!
