Having a dj at the wedding worth it?

Hey everyone! So, I am in the planning process right now. I am having mixed feelings about hiring a Dj. Is it worth spending 1,000$ Or more on a DJ to play music at my wedding. Let me know your thoughts?

I definitely think it's worth it. People always remember the food and music about weddings. If you want everyone to have a good time, a good dj can help.

For us it is worth it. We want people out on the dance floor and we wanted an MC for the night!

If you don't care about getting people to dance then I'd say just buy a month of Spotify Premium or Ad-Free Pandora and make a play list! If you want people to dance and have an MC for the night I'd definitely hire a DJ. They'll read the crowd and if people aren't on the dance floor they'll be interactive and get you out there so the party can keep going on!

It is personal preference more than anything else. If you and your FH, your crowd likes to dance then you may want to have a DJ that controls the music, lights, dance floor, announcements etc but if that isn't important to you or your crowd then save the money. We did not have one but did have a play list, bluetooth speakers for background noise and it worked just fine for us.

My DJ kept the party going. He was amazing. I don't think my wedding would have been nearly as fun and active if I didn't have a DJ. On the other side though I went to a wedding two weekends after mine and the DJ had a crappy playlist and no one danced. So I think for a DJ to be beneficial you need to find one that has great reviews. The company I hired was $700 and they acted as a DOC too which was awesome and only had 5 star reviews.

We want people to dance so we hired a DJ. He’s a family friend who does it for extra cash. So it was wayyyy cheaper than some well known.

I personally recommend a DJ for any wedding and reception. Good music and good food are what makes a party or celebration fun and bring it to life. $1,000 for a DJ is not too bad. FH and I are paying $1,199 for a DJ to have coverage for the rehearsal, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. This also includes an MC and photo booth for our guests to use.

A DJ does more than just play music. Our DJ is providing the clip on microphones for our ceremony, along with the wireless microphone for the ceremony reading and reception speeches, they also make the announcements for what table can go get their food for a buffet style dinner (we are doing plated), announcing when the cake cutting is going on, and so much more. I would ask exactly what all the DJ you're looking at includes with their price. Ours is adding drone ceremony footage (stops it when the processional is over so you don't hear the buzzing) and his microphones have an mp3 recording capability so we can listen to the ceremony reading and reception speeches whenever we want with great quality. I 100% recommend having a DJ at your wedding. Our DJ is going to cost $1200. Hope this helps!

Yes, yes, yes. Get a DJ. It was one of the best decisions I made. He got everyone dancing and was a blast to have at the reception. Ours cost $750 for 6 hours which was a huge steal. It made all the difference in the world for the guests though!
