Having a girl as "best man"?

Tori♥Nick, on February 2, 2010 at 1:14 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

FHs best friend is a girl and I told him it would be cute to have her as his best "woman" I guess you would call it...he says he just doesn't see it but would consider...and asked me to ask all you WW ladies what your opinion is!!

Personally, I think it's fine. (I know you're talking about best (wo)man, but as a side note, my FH is having his female friend as a groomswoman. Smiley smile ).

I've seen that done before. If that is truly the person closest to him (other than you), then he should go for it. Does he not have any brothers? Wouldn't want them to get offended. One of my friends, her DH had a best woman. She wore a different dress than the BMs, but was still within the color scheme. The BMs was all black, same style. Best woman wore a black and white floral.

I went to a wedding where the groom had several women in his party: he called them grooms-chicks. I thought it was cute, they wore black dresses to match the tuxes whereas the bridesmaids had red dresses. That way, they were easily identified as groomschicks

HaHa so funny you posted this as MOH wants to be Best Man, lmao. She was FH best friend and when I met him she became my best friend. Luckily for me I talked her into being on my side cuz now I get a kick ass bachelorette party, lo.l

My FH is having his sister as a groomswoman and I am having a guy in my bridal party. My FH hasn't even met my guy friend (he lives across the country) so it made no sense to have him stand on FH's side. I know you asked about the best (wo)man but the point is to have people that mean the most to you standing beside you - no matter what gender. Tell him to go for it!

I think the people chosen to be best man or maid of honor should be whoever is closest to the bride or groom... no matter what their gender is. So if FH's best friend is a woman, then that's who should stand with him.

(Just don't tell him its "cute"... most guys I know automatically shy away from anything that is described that way. Tell him its appropriate instead.) Smiley winking

It doesn't matter about the title! Its who he knows will always stand beside him in life. Just out her in a nice pants suit. She won't stand out to much. But hay who cares if she does she somebody special

I never thought about a best woman before but thinking about it after a friend brought it up, thinking she made it up, I believe a woman can be the "best woman", if the couple decides to. I'm a guy, btw... Just saying because I don't know if that makes a difference to what I just said... But I'm all for the "best woman" idea.

My first thought went to Gilmore Girls and how cute Rory looked dressed up in a suit standing next to her grandpa as his best man. Definitely doable
