having a hard time with table cloths...is plastic too cheap??

Lynnie Pin, on November 27, 2013 at 2:31 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15

Im on a tight budget and im scared that if i just buy the regular dark brown plastic table cloths for round tables itll look cheesy and cheap. But, im guessing with everything on the table it wont look that bad...But then again IDK where else i would find 20 circular table clothes that are cheap!

    Question, what are your colors?

ETA: I saw dark brown but was curious if you had another color. I have used Linentablecloth for my needs and they have a good deal on a few colors. Not sure what you're looking to spend though...

I personally wouldn't use plastic but that's only because it would go with my venue.

I'm not sure about where you are but here in MTL, you can check out Fabricville. You might be able to get a huge roll of fabric, cut them to size and have enough to pose as table clothes?

I borrowed mine from a friend who got married at the same venue that we are using. I was also debating on using plastic ones too because of the price. I dont know your budget, but you could check into renting them. My mom also found a wedding site that sells plastic tableclothes that look like real cloth. I wish I remembered the name of the site, but im sure if you Goggled it you can find it. We didnt buy any so Im not sure if they are what they say they are.

I was all ready to spend (way too much) money on fabric to have my zebra pattern table runners from this wonderful fabric store. It was going to be $400ish...then on a whim I looked on Amazon and found some for $3 a piece (plus they were already sewn so I wouldn't have to do anything to them). They may not be the fancy silk I was eyeballing at the store, but they LOOK good. And I think you're right, with all the stuff on the table, it won't be all that noticeable. There's different kinds of "plastic" though so I would be wary of that...but I do think it's possible to find some that don't look/feel cheap.

Amazon and eBay are your friends!! (especially with black Friday/cyber Monday deals)

Iʻm REALLY against plastic table cloths but there are rentable ones, borrowable ones, ones on craigslist, ebay, amazon- even the online china shops sell table covers

Don't do plastic. In my area, (NYC) plastic costs about 3.00 per table, and renting tablecloths costs about 7-8. It'w well worth the money.

I wouldn't do plastic. I went to 2 rustic weddings this past summer: one had burlap sack fabric as the table cloth (doesn't need to be round on a round table), the other used brown shipping paper and put felt pens and crayons on the tables so guests were encouraged to draw all over them. By the end of the night they had bunch of funny pictures and comments to read while cleaning up.

I'm not convinced plastic is actually cheaper. Cloth ones aren't that expensive to begin with. And if you resell them, the net cost is probably less than disposables.

I think I'm going to end up going the plastic route. Renting is way more than I want to pay and yeah, I could buy/resell them but then I would have to clean them, list them online, etc. Nobody got time for that. I can cover 25 tables for like 30 bucks with plastic and I just don't care enough to shell out a ton for fabric. People may think it looks tacky or cheap, but they can suck it. Plus after a few drinks, they hopefully won't think that stuff for long!

My venue provides a $400 credit to be linens. If they didnt, I'd be scouring the internet for cheaper options. Check craigslist etc...!

Some catering companies provide linens when you use them they are not usually anything fancy but maybe an option?
