Having a small church ceremony after the destination wedding?

Debra, on January 1, 2010 at 2:03 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6

I'm getting married July 9th in the Bahamas but my parents have asked that we also get married in the church when we come back from the wedding. Just a small intimate ceremony with immediate family and a dinner afterwards. Is anyone else thinking about doing this? How formal/ informal do you make the ceremony?

Why exactly are they wanting another ceremony when you come back? Are they not able to go to the one in the Bahamas? But I'd say you'd probably do an informal ceremony since you already had the bigger one before that. But I've never heard of doing this so I don't know for sure.

I really love the idea! When brides do a destination wedding and then a huge wedding afterwards that is too much. But your immediate family will appreciate it! Best wishes.

Its up to you really. do you want to wear your dress again and take pics with the family if so I'd go Semi Formal for picture sake! If you don't plan on getting dressed up again or ur hunnie getting back in a tux then do laid back or try doing cocktail attire.

I don't see anything wrong with that! Most destination wedding brides have some sort of AHR (at home reception) for all the guests that can't make the wedding. I think what your parents have planned will be really nice...go for it!

I've heard of this being done before mostly for religious reasons. I would make it small and semi-formal.

This is strictly a personal choice. this is something we discussed when we started planning and my position is that once i'm married, i'm married. whether it was JOP, destination or in our pastor's office so if we went one of those routes there would be no "big" wedding afterwards.

Are your parents not joining you in the bahamas?
