Having Brother as Brides...man?

BecomingBecker, on September 18, 2018 at 6:35 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 18
So we have a little conundrum my FH is planning on having 5 groomsman, I only have 4 bridesmaids, my 2 sisters and then best friend and cousin, I have other girlfriends but would feel bad not asking all 3 of them. My cousin pointed out that she was a grooms"maid" for HER brothers wedding, and since my big brother and I are super close it would maybe work to have him as my 5th, plus it would mean having all of my siblings up there with me when I get married. Has anyone seen weddings like this before? Thoughts?

You can 100% have your brother by your side.

I had a Best Man because it didn't seem fair for me to exclude one of my best friends just because he is a guy.

It worked out fine we just had everyone walk down the aisle individually.

I never hear of that it's really up to the bride or the couple depending on dinamics. At my brother's wedding one of the guys had 2 bridesmaids. So is not that bad. A bridesmaid and two groomsmen not bad. Everything will be ok. Good Luck Smiley smile

Hi Megan! Kristen makes a great point here. Having a bridesman is definitely okay and you can totally make this work with your processional/recessional/bridal party dynamic! Smiley heart

I think it would be great to have all of your siblings by your side! And since you and your brother are so close, definitely memorable for you both. Smiley heart

My FH is having his sister be his “best man” they have gotten very close over the last few years. I love it! Have the people who are important to you play the big parts. Good luck!

One of my FH’s best friends since childhood is a woman so we have her standing up on his side!

For my first wedding, my sister was my maid of honor, but my brother was not an attendant, because I just assumed my attendants had to be female. I have always regretted not including my brother.

For my second wedding, we had my son as dude of honor. I felt a lot better about including those closest to me, rather than deciding based on gender.

I'm doing this. My brother is my man of honor and my male best friend is a bridesman. I actually don't have any women in my bridal party.

I have three men in my bridal party; my brothers are my two Men of Honor and my friend of 20'ish years is one of my bridesmen! I've seen a lot of weddings (more so in the recent past) where this is happening... I know that, for me, it was important to have whoever meant the most to me be by my side no matter what gender they are.

I've seen plenty of weddings like this. Our best "man" is a female and my son is on my side.

I think it would be great, I'm actually having one of my best guy friends be my bridesman and he will be invited to the bachelor party as well as the bachelorette party. This works well for our tiny (less than 20) wedding as qe are all very close

    100% yes.

FH and I are also having a groomswoman and bridesman respectively.
