Having hair finished right before the ceremony starts??

K, on July 6, 2021 at 4:17 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 7
Hi all,

If you’ve read/remembered my other hair posts, you’ll know that my one and only hair trial for my out of state wedding went badly. I am looking for a new artist, and one that can come to me this time. I’ve reached out to pretty much everyone in the area I can find… it’s about an hour, hour and a half from any major city and so far the people who are available are not willing to come to me because I only need services for myself.
I am in touch with friend of a friend of a friend who is a professional stylist and whose photos indicate that she is competent. She won’t be able to arrive on location until at least 2 PM and my wedding ceremony begins at 4 pm. Assuming the style takes an hour and a half, and assuming she hits some traffic on the way, is it possible to have my hair done just in the nick of time? Is there anything I have to do between having hair done and the ceremony beginning?
Please help, I am desperate at this point! I have considered doing my own hair but I’m really bad at hair and I’m worried that will add more stress.

That's cutting it very close! Do you have a regular hairdresser where you live? If so, would you be willing to pay them to come to the wedding to do your hair? I paid my regular hairdresser to travel to my wedding location for my services (Her shop is 2 hours from the wedding venue, and I was the only one getting my hair done). I think she was willing to do it because I was a regular customer -- she probably would have said no otherwise.

Are you wanting photos before hand? I think it IS cutting it close but wouldn't be impossible. I'd go for it if it's all I could get!

Could you travel to someone possibly since it's just you?

I can, and that is a last resort for me as I already have so many things to do that day.

I should clarify that if they were only a couple of miles away or 10 minutes or something it would not be an issue. But we’re looking at 30 minutes as a starting time one way, and secondary to my reasoning is that I’d like help not messing up my hair while putting on my gown or veil.

I wouldn't risk it with timing that close

I think it's always a good idea to plan for delays (e.g., traffic, services taking longer than estimated, etc.), so this just sounds like a recipe for guaranteed stress to me. I would keep looking for another vendor who is available in the morning. Or, you could shift your ceremony start time later.
