Hey guys! So we're starting to plan our honeymoon. We've been researching and finding that a lot of people recommend Maui and Kauai for honeymoons. Most people said Kauai was more quiet and secluded and Maui had a bit more to do. We've found Kauai hotels to be a little cheaper though which is kind of enticing! We'll be going for about 7 days and would want to mainly lay on the beach but also snorkel, maybe do a luau, a hike or other activity, try out some restaurants, maybe hit a bar one night, shop one day...that kind of thing. Mainly chill and relax but would still like to have things to do! For those of you that have been to one or both islands what would you recommend? Would we get bored at Kauai? Would you recommend doing both islands in only 7 days? What cities did you stay in? Any hotel or activity recommendations? Thanks!!

Maui is my favorite island BY FAR! I am obsessed. Kauai is wayyy too secluded and quiet for my personal tastes, but other people love it like that. I personally think it is boring. I like there to be things to do and people to see. It depends on what you are looking for. I have been to Maui twice now and next time I go to Hawaii it will be Maui. I cannot get enough lol. We stay on Kaanapali Beach which is my favorite. Wailea is also very nice, but even there it is a little quiet for me. It would be a great honeymoon spot. It is a bit more "ritzy" vs touristy. I just love Maui so much.

If you're going to Maui, look for hotels on Kaanapali Beach! Great snorkeling, lots of restaurants and shops in walking distance, and better prices than Wailea.

If you really want something unusual, try UnCruise. The ship they use in Hawaii holds 28 people and they do some great activities, including snorkeling with manta rays at night at the big island. The only bad thing is that you will be in close quarters with 26 other people!

You can't go wrong with either island. Best thing to do is think about what you want to do and then check with a travel professional to see which island offers those options.

I just got back from Maui in July where FH proposed and it was absolutely amazing! So many things to do and awesome Luaus! We stayed as Aston Kaanapali Shores and it was so relaxing. Will definitely be back

Hi! I live in Hawaii, in Honolulu to be more specific! I would recommend splitting it between the two islands if you can! Flights between islands are cheap, around $150 round trip, and short 45 mins max. Kauai will give you a more laid back/local feel and Maui will give your more touristy/resort vibes. Hikes, beaches, and quite time will be better in Kauai and doing the luau, night life, and shopping would be best in Maui. If you are looking to shop Maui has a really nice shopping center with high end stores, you will not find this in Kauai. Once we get out of the resorts Kauai and be pretty country/quite and might not have everything you are hoping for if you wish to get outside of the resorts!

I haven't been to either, but we just booked Kauai for our honeymoon. We're staying in a condo near Princeville through Airbnb.

We were attracted to the more laid back, secluded, quiet vibe of the island.

That said, it was a tough choice deciding between Kauai, Maui and the Big Island.

We were going to do 1 week in Kauai and 1 week in Maui but due to circumstances we are just going to do 2 weeks in Maui. What hotels are you looking at? When we were planning a possible week in Kauai we looked at the Koa Kea Resort. Looks so beautiful!
