Hawaiian wedding, Black natural hair

I'm having difficulty finding a stylist for my hair for our wedding February 2021. It's not that there aren't any available, rather that almost none where we're getting married have any experience with natural black hair. Especially for a bride who wants to keep it that way for her wedding. I AM set on not chemically treating my hair for our wedding which is in Hawaii. Oh, did I mention, we're planning from a distance? He's in Arizona and I'm in Ohio. Should I just find a local stylist I like who's willing to travel and fly them out with us as part of my group? Or find one near him and get my hair done in advance? Or just keep looking?

Definitely find one you can do a trial with whether that's local to you or in Arizona. You don't want to test out a stylist in Hawaii the day of even if their portfolio is great. I needed 2 trials with a stylist I've been with for 3 years. Also, have you considered a braided look?

Well, we're going to be in Hawaii a few times before the wedding. I have considered a braided look. I think I want something that has braids but isn't completely braided. I won't know for sure until I try them out, I guess.

Maybe you can get it done before you leave in a style where you (or someone in Hawaii) doesn’t have to do too much to it.

That's kinda what I was thinking about. I think I may have better luck looking in Arizona, though, so I don't have to wear it as long before the ceremony.

Being African-American I am very odd about a person I do not know styling my hair because not everyone knows how to deal with black hair. If you are saying there are not a lot of people in Hawaii that know how to deal with black hair I would not take the chance. I was a bridesmaid for a wedding years back that was in Garden City, Long Island. I know it would be a non black salon so I had my hairdresser at the time style my hair and I just had it touched up. Thank God because the bride and MOH (who are white) hated their hair styles. I would maybe have it styled before the wedding and if anything a simple 'do that someone can do. I am planning to have my hair dresser give me extensions and then as for a simple loose body wave.
