Hay bale seating

harley, on July 10, 2016 at 9:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 46

Has anybody ever been to a wedding with hay bales for seating? We want to do two bales side by side but don't want people to fall between. We would rather not use wood as we have already used a TON for other things!

I have and my butt hurt the whole time. They aren't very comfortable.

From what i've read on here, hay bale seating isn't recommended for a number of reasons. Hopefully some others will chime in why. I remember they were all good reasons, just can't remember why.

I wouldn't do that. I can't imagine it would be comfortable to sit on. Plus what happens if someone has hay allergies and they sneeze the entire ceremony?

This sounds super uncomfortable. And I second what @Lynn said about allergies.

Seating with no back is killer. I love my sil but her 10 minutes ceremony felt like an eternity.

I have been too one... and would never sit on them again. It is itchy, pokey and completely uncomfortable. After the ceremony all I wanted to was leave when I realized we would be sitting on hay all night.

Reasons not to do hale bales:

    1) Uncomfortable to sit on

    2) No back support

    3) Itchy

Nontraditional seating is usually a bad idea. Not only are there elderly who need the support of a traditional seat, but there are people of all ages with their own physical struggles you might not be aware of (bad knees, fainting spells, etc.). Even those who don't necessarily need the support, will be put off when their seat is uncomfortable, itchy, and poking through their expensive new dress.

I would be very upset - forget that it is uncomfortable- its dirty and I wore my nice clothes - and it could damage nice fabric.

I would be pretty aggravated. Hay bales are extremely uncomfortable, they're allergy triggers to a lot of people, they mold extremely easily (and therefore could potentially make your guests sick,) and are overall very unattractive asthetically as well. You say no wood, but seriously, hay? No. It's just a bad idea. Get some chairs. The rental of chairs would probably cost less than the hay anyway.

Not at a wedding but at pumpkin patches where they're nice enough to cover them with thick plastic, then soft blankets. My legs still got itchy and there was no back support. Smiley sad

Pain in the ass...literally. FBIL did this and it was really cute but not comfortable at all!

My focus during the ceremony was resisting the urge to scratch my ass instead of paying attention to the actual ceremony.

I went to one wedding that had them and I thought they looked great and very inline with their theme. They covered them in nice thick flannel blankets that they folded on top. Wasn't uncomfortable and didn't ruin anyone's clothes.

I have been and it was super itchy! Even with a cloth cover over them. It wasn't very comfortable at all. :/

My FH is extremely allergic to hay. He develops hives, his eyes swell, he can even start wheezing. If someone has been on a hay ride, working in a barn, or anything, just having that person near him can start him sneezing. Please don't use hay.
