Hay bale seating

Has anybody ever been to a wedding with hay bales for seating? We want to do two bales side by side but don't want people to fall between. We would rather not use wood as we have already used a TON for other things!

I am so allergic to hay. We're talking pus-filled boils and giant scabby hives even through a layer of clothes. Please don't do this, or at least provide alternate seating far away from the hay.

I'm super allergic, so I would definitely be sneezing up a storm and my eyes would be swollen shut within an hour or so. That might be something to consider.

Allergies. Not even sitting near them.

I would have to leave your wedding and probably wouldn't even be able to attend the reception. That is how allergic I am to that stuff. In fact, I have declined wedding invites that I knew were at ranches because I am severely allergic to both hay and horses.

Yep. It was itchy and uncomfortable. My allergies were horrible because of it. No thank you!

Very uncomfortable, even though the bride covered them with fabric. And trying to squeeze two normal sized adults on one was slightly hard, plus they sagged underneath us on each side. Way too distracting as a guest at a wedding.

That sounds incredibly itchy. I don't think your guests would like that at all.

I have bad allergies. If I saw them, I wouldn't even sit down, I would have to leave.

They are soooooooooo not comfortable. And, as others have mentioned: allergies. Heck, I don't even have allergies and I get all itchy and scratchy from sitting on a hay bale because they actively try to stab you to death as revenge for cutting them down and tying them up.

I use hyperbole, but still: no.

For all the reasons mentioned, please don't do hay bales. Guest comfort should be a paramount concern when choosing seating IMO.

Please don't for the sake of your guests. I cannot last sitting down on something without back support for longer than 5 minutes

Please no. No back support, lumpy, allergies (I break out when I handle bermuda hay), scratchy, bugs, awkward heights, will snag some fabrics.

I did it for a bonfire one in college.. and it was fine cause people were drunk and didn't notice, but for a wedding its no good.

Also most of them that you see are not hay but straw. My biggest thing against them are the older guests who need something more than a straw bale.

NO!! My parents have a farm and grow hay. I'm super allergic to it: even being in the barn when there's hay in it is enough to get me coughing and completely break me out. Growing up, if I had to be around it, I'd wear long sleeves & pants to avoid hives. If I came to a wedding and I was supposed to sit on a hay bale all dressed up, I would not be happy at all!

At the very least, if you must use hay bales, use them as decor or put fabric on them so people's skin don't have to come in contact with them.

Our venue uses a tractor ride to get guests from ceremony space to reception space and even they do not have hay, just wooden benches. Hay is a bad idea (Pinterest fail)
