Hay bale seating

Has anybody ever been to a wedding with hay bales for seating? We want to do two bales side by side but don't want people to fall between. We would rather not use wood as we have already used a TON for other things!

Please don't. I was going to do this but then we went to a fair ahs had to sit on them for a while and I thought it was horrible. So we are renting chairs. Not sure where you are or how big your guest list is but I think it's about $200 for ours, for 50 chairs.

I would definitely add blankets over top if you decide to do this, but I would go with chairs, church pews or benches. You can get many of these through rental companies in your area.

Personally I cringe when I see hay bale seating. mainly because they are simply not proper seats. But I think it would be great if you put a solid piece of wood across the top on each row. Big enough for everyone's bum, the blankets covering the tops

Would I sit on them if that's all you provided yes. Would I like it NO. All I can think of is hay poking me in the butt

How can you use too much wood in your decor - huh??? For the price of all the blankets you would have to buy, just rent some chairs!

I wouldn't enjoy sitting on hay for a wedding. However, if you are stuck on this idea could you cover the hay with blankets to at least avoid the itching/dirtiness?
