HCG Diet - KILL ME.

SO, after my cousin whom I'm really close with told me about the HCG Diet the other day, I was really interested. I've never done an actual DIET, just ate smart and exercised from time to time. SO, after my cousin whom I'm really close with told me about the HCG Diet the other day, I was really interested. I've never done an actual DIET, just ate smart and exercised from time to time. But since I've got 40 lbs of baby weight to lose before August I knew I needed to do something with rules. My cousin is 36 and has had 3 children, all by c-sections so it makes it hard to lose weight. And in the past 26 days, she has lost 22 lbs! I was like.... if I could just lose 20 lbs before my wedding, I'd die of happiness. WELL it's an extreme diet with these expensive drops you need to take (That are very healthy - not a drug kind of thing) and a 500 calorie limit a day. Yep, thats right. 500 calories. AND you're limited to what you can eat - obviously. Anyway, I started it today and my meals consisted of a handful of strawberries for breakfast, 4oz of chicken and a handful of green beans for lunch, a salad a couple hours later, then dinner of 4oz of chicken and green beans again. --->

Ladies, please be very, very careful with this diet. You could be doing permanent damage to yourself. When the body is in starvation mode, it will seek out nutrients wherever it can find them... and that could even be your heart.

And, anecdotally, I have a friend who has used this diet. She suffered and struggled with the severe calorie restriction while she was on it. And, when she stopped, she completely rebounded because the diet didn't reinforce the lifestyle changes that are required for maintaining a healthy weight.

I'm on a diet, too. It's called "eating healthy and exercising every day." I've dropped three pounds in the last two weeks, which I guess isn't very exciting. But those are pounds that are going to stay off because I'm making permanent, sustainable lifestyle changes.

Ladies, if a diet sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Don't risk your health on some snake oil salesman fad diet.

Well, if there's a picture of a doctor on the ad, then it must be safe. Ugh. Ladies, this is pure magical thinking.

Http://health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/diet-fitness/diets/hcg-diet4.htm Please be safe, ladies. 500 calories a day is not enough for your body to function properly. Period.

Hi,I think you'd better not eat any food that is rich in oil and sugar. In stead, you can eat more vegetables and fruits. At the same time, doing some exercise is important, too. Good luck to you!

This drop is a total crash diet. It does PERMANENT damage to you body. Ya it might work like "promised" but its not healthy. A healthy and PROPER diet is 2,000 calorie intake with exercise ... i dont understand why so many women out there feel the need to kill their bodies that way. I need to lose weight too but im doing P90X and it works! AND im eating at least 3,000 cals a day

Most bodies actually go into starvation mode with less than about 1200 calories a day. That means that you body will do anything to preserve the fat and calories in your body and, in the long run, can make it very difficult to lose weight and keep it off. Also, if your body isn't used to consuming so few calories, it can shock your system and be quite dangerous to your health. I would just be very careful. Crash diets might show immediate results, but they're not healthy.

Wait...Lea, you're trying to lose 40 pounds by August? And you have a baby? May I ask if you are breastfeeding? If so, I would really, really run this by your doctor. At any rate, it must be hard to care for an infant on so little nutrition.

It took a long time to gain that weight, it won't be that easy to lose it even though that would be amazing!

There are some crazy doctors out there - or people who just pretend to be doctors - that are only interested in money! They don't care if you die from a product that they endorse.

I am trying to lose some weight, too. I am watching what I eat, walking at work and doing Wi Active at home. I am also using a Cinch shake after I work out. I sell Shaklee so I am a little biased but the Cinch shake has lots of protein to help you keep muscle while you burn fat and it makes a great meal. Check out my website if you are interested in more info about Cinch. www.bowcreeek.myshaklee.com

Yikes scary stuff, I found similar links to Stars and Shannon's..they all say that while FDA has approved HCG for infertility, they have NOT approved it for weight loss..I see a few of you getting excited, please do research first to get a balanced view..I'm sure for every success story there is a horror story like a short google search of "HCG diet dangers" yields.

Losing "weight" is different than losing fat, water, or muscle.

Inches is better to keep an eye on!

I think I will look into this when I get down to Arizona and get some kind of health insurance(to see the doctor) I have a thyroid condition that has caused me to gain weight and I'm almost over 200lbs now, and I'm devistated about it because I literally went from a size 7 to almost a size 20 (ATM). I want to lose the weight and be back to my skinny minny self that I was before all this weight gain happened, I've been told that after I get on medications for my thyroid that it will start to drop off because my metabolism will start to work better than it does...but I'm skeptical about it...
