Headpiece and a veil.. too much?

Melody , on July 12, 2016 at 12:43 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 28

So I know I want some kind of metal floral/leafed headpiece for sure. However, When I got my dress the women put a veil on me and I liked the way that looked as well. Was wondering if it would be to much to do both?

I intend to have my hair down and curled with the two front sections of my hair braided back like a crown braid, the headpiece would rest on top of the braided edge. and I thought I could tuck the veil edge under where the braids come together

I attached an example of inspiration to kinda clarify what I am talking about. as well as the headpiece I am considering.

this is the veil that caught my interest in the store as well.

I think it truly depends on the headpiece and veil themselves. Some I think would be ok together, others wouldn't work.

True. I think I would go more simple if it was both and more crazy if it was just the headband or veil.

It would be too much for my taste, but try it with your specific hairstyle and accessories to see what you think

My favorite veil is a drop veil and I think it's perfect for you!

I think if the veil has no embellishment and is narrower, it could work really well. It also depends on the style of the dress.

I think it could work, as long as you're comfortable having that many things attached to/resting on your head. If your headpiece is heavy, you may not want the veil as well. Depending on the combination you choose, it could look stunning!

I second the drop veil idea. Of course it depends on your dress as well. But I think drop veils look great with flower/leaf crown type headpieces. And I would say just wear the veil for the ceremony, then take it off for the reception.

You could always wear the veil for the ceremony and the head piece for the reception.

I don't think it's too much, I would just do a trial with both pieces to make sure you like the look. I was just at a wedding where the bride did something similar to this, and then she took the veil off for the reception, and it was gorgeous!

My only concern is, if the headpiece is gold, and the veil has silver accessories, it could turn out to be really heavy. If both match your dress, swap the veil for the headpiece after the ceremony. Of course it depends on the colors you chose, too.

Thanks for all the help. Ill look into some drop veils. And doing a few different trials with both.

Are rings are mixed metals which is why I was considering mixing silver and gold.

Oh! Ok that makes more sense. Trials are definitely a good plan. Theories are all nice and well but elements combined surprise us sometimes. Let us know how it goes!

If the veil has no embellishments then it should be fine. What if you do the veil for the ceremony and the hairpiece for the reception?

I'm wearing a tiara and a veil because why not. Only on your wedding day is it alright to wear either.

Can you try it on in the store? Just to get a better feel for it?
