Hello! I’ve searched this a ton and found that most people preferred to keep their dress on. However, no one has mentioned having a long train. This isn’t the dress I bought but the dress I did buy is probably a foot longer and fairly heavy and thick (much thicker than the gown photographed bc it’s a mermaid dress so there’s a lot more fabric down there vs a fit and flare) .
So as much as I love my dress and want to keep it on as much as possible and of course after already paying thousands of dollars for my dress, I’m worried that it’ll be too hard to maneuver at the reception. I am the type of person who loves to dance so I don’t want the dress to severely limit me. Has anyone experienced a long train and dancing all night? I’m not too worried about being hot as my wedding is on the end of October and it’ll likely be fairly cold. Thank you!!!!🤍

I read about the Asian tradition in Michelle's earlier post. The good thing in your case is that the time away from the events for your dress change was anticipated by your guests. Congrats on your marriage.

Your dress is sooo beautiful, but I also vote for getting something comfier to have handy for the reception for a number of reasons. And if you do - show us the pics! And congratulations! Smiley love

I think it’s an exaggeration to make a point. You would definitely have more than 30 minutes in your dress – even for the shortest of ceremonies! We had a destination wedding, and our goal was to make sure guests weren’t sitting around waiting for us. So we had a 10 minute ceremony, and only took pictures afterward for 20 minutes, so we could join everybody at cocktail hour. And even with that insanely quick schedule, I was in my dress for an hour and a half (and I didn’t do any getting ready photos). With the schedule you just described, you will be in your dress for most of the day, and there will be countless pictures of you in it! After seeing your schedule, I would definitely suggest having something to change into available, just in case. Because after lugging around a huge train all day long, there’s a good chance you are going to just be over it by the time you get to your reception, and just want to be comfortable and party it up with your guests!
It’s much better to have the option available and not need it, than to need it and not have it.
Make sure you bring comfortable shoes as well!

Did you find a dress on Black Friday? I'm not sure that happens much for wedding dresses though. Had you already shopped around beforehand?

I would 1000% get a reception dress with a gown like that. You have to get it bustled and even then will get messy. If it's within your budget I would certainly get a reception dress!
