Heels with a shorter groom?

Sara, on November 2, 2017 at 11:19 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

I'm 2 inches taller than my fiance. I wear heels when we go out and he's fine with them, but just not sure if I want to be towering over him for our wedding. And to be honest, I think "kitten heels" and any 1-2 inch heel looks ridiculous. I don't know what to do. Advice?

I'm wearing flats. FH doesn't mind being shorter, but I just don't wear heels that often and didn't want to be towering over him either. As long as you're comfortable in the shoes you pick, I think that's what matters!

I personally do not like kitten heels, I would just use a really nice pair of flats. Maybe you could even use them again after the wedding, win. I love heels but I am not super graceful in walking in them to this day, so I have been looking into flats. My dress will cover them anyhow and I am 5'7.

Thats a tough one... my FH & I are the same height and any heel i put on will make me taller...i think if u wear a small heel but not a 'kitten' heel it shud be fine...try taking a picture together with a shorter heel to see how u like it

I'm about one inch taller than my FH. I still went with a 3.5 inch heel and honestly our height difference isn't even noticeable in this shoe. Mainly because his dress shoes will give him an extra boost in height.

I am 4 inches taller than FH. I didn't get kitten heels, but they are pretty low (which I wanted- I am not the greatest in heels). I don't think there's anything wrong with sort of towering over him, but I am used to it by now so that doesn't bother me. When we went to his prom, he wore platforms and they cancelled out my heels, so we were essentially back to our normal height difference. It you want the tall heels then go for it!

FH and I are close in height (he thinks he is much taller). Anytime I wear heels I tower over him, so I am going with flats. Though I might find a cute pair of heels for photos only. I love kitten heels but they are hard to find in a variety of styles anymore.

I'd go with flats, it's not like your shoes are always visible right?

My best friend wore pretty flats at her wedding and she has 3 inches on her husband and she loved them...

I'm the same height as my FH so I tower over him in heels, I just got 3.5 in wedges! With his shoes on it's barley noticeable!

Do what makes you comfortable !

So I'm shorter then my FH .. he is 5'9 I'm 5'4 ... he hates when I wear heels even though I'm never actually taller then him .. I think kitten heels are ugly .. but I'm trying to find a nice pair under 3 " hoping about 2 .. so he's comfortable .. they will be hidden anyway ..

I'm very close to FH's height, within half an inch. I know he's a teeny tiny bit self conscious about our height difference when I wear heels. For that reason, and the fact that I love sandals, I'm skipping out on the heels! If I can find really comfortable flats, I'll go that route, otherwise, sandals for me!

I would ask him if heels on your wedding day would bother him. If you wear them regularly then most likely he will be okay with it. If he is, just find a comfortable pair you love and go for it. If the idea bothers him, then you can research flats you would be most comfortable with.

I'm 5'5" and FH is 5'7" and I really really want to wear heels but don't want to be taller than him. we've talked about it and he knows hes on the shorter side and is open to wearing shoes with lifts in them because its not like anyone will be able to see inside his shoes.

Talk to your FH. If you really want to wear heels and are worried about the height difference for pictures, he could look into dress shoes that will add extra height or even look into adding lifts.

At my first wedding, a bridal consultant told me that I should wear low heels, so I wouldn't be taller than the groom. I pointed out that if I went barefoot, I would be taller than the groom, and asked whether she thought I should get a different groom to take care of this "problem."

This is just one facet of the sexist notion that the bride must always be younger, shorter, and less well educated than the groom, and that in general he should be the dominant one. How about not worrying about that, and just getting whatever heels you feel comfortable/beautiful in?

My FH is maybe an inch taller than me and I didn't think twice when I bought heels for the wedding.

I'm about 2 inches taller than my husband. Normally it doesn't bother him but he wanted to be around the same height as me for the wedding. I wore flips flops and he added lifts in his shoes. He was still a little shorter than me but he was happy.

I am also taller than FH and do not want to tower over him in heels. I have looked at flats and found a pair of lace ones that I love and think I might purchase.

I know no one really likes kitten heels but if you have to chose between flats and kitten heels I say do the heels. When you wear even a small heel you walk differently and your posture is different thereby giving you and your dress a different look then when wearing flats.
