Wear whatever you want. Unless your dress is short, no one will see them. If they do, no one will pay attention to them.

I actually toyed around with the idea because 1. no one will really see your shoes...and 2. I thought black would look cool against a white dress.

I don't think it's tacky, as such, but I personally wouldn't like the look of it on me. However, as the others have said, no one is likely to see your shoes anyway, and if that's all you've been able to find that you can comfortably wear, that's more important than the colour!

Have you tried Just Fab? I have long, narrow feet (size 11-13 depending on who makes the shoe) but I'm able to find cute sandals, heels, boots, etc on their website! They even have wide foot and wide Calf options!
