Well that's crazy early but maybe 2 years out? Some venues might do 3. I booked mine 22 months out.

It depends on the venue. Some might not let you book that far in advance. You could always set a budget and start a guest list and contact potential venues for more information and ask when they would be willing to book.

Some will not allow bookings so far in advance. I think many places 2 years in the cap. You can start figure out what you can save between now and then, and start saving a few ideas. Don't go crazy with anything until you've booked your venue though.

FH and I are waiting until next year to book a venue. We will be 2/2.5 years away at that point. We did this intentionally - we want the long engagement. It gives us a chance to really work out the kinks in our budget (see: work out the kinks in spending frivolously), nail down a solid guest list, allows out families to really mingle across the board, and really decide what's important vs. not important to us in a wedding. It just suits us, and we're happy with it!

For now, enjoy being engaged! You don't have to book a venue for another two years, which gives you time to save for a deposit so you can put down for that date with no hesitation!

You can start touring now to see what you like, but just know that the pricing will change over the next 4 years. If you are worried about locking in the date, you should book about 2 years out.

I don't think a lot of vendors are going to let you book until about 2 years out.

I am in the same boat as you. I got engaged in 2016 and getting married in 2020. We had the chance to view many venues and I’m glad we were able to. We were able to find a venue that we loved and worked with our budget. Most venues said we could lock in our date for 2020 and the current pricing, so you just have to talk to them and ask. Good luck!

Just wanted to chime in and say that it's like 100x easier to find a venue when you're flexible on your date. since you chose a cool date, you may need to be flexible with everything else that comes with booking a venue - like price, limited availability, etc.
