Ashley, on July 10, 2012 at 10:35 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 14

Ok, so my wedding is outside, and I bought a vinyl aisle runner, and my fiance pointed out that, he thinks it might get ripped with peoples heels and shoes, because its just laying on grass. What do you think?? What should I do?!!?

DANGER! Don't use it. Any type of runner on grass is a bad idea. I think you should return it and find an alternate way to decorate the aisle.

I say ditto to what Kimberly M said! Do not use it! Not only can people possibly get hurt, but it could be ripped before you get to walk down it Smiley sad

Agreed. Bad idea! We aren't having one because I went to a wedding last year and someone tripped on one

I agree - the last thing you want is to trip - they are notorious for wrinkling on grass. What you can do to make the area you will be walking down stand out is to cut the aisle runner in fourths lengthwise, take two of them and glue petals to them and place them on either side of the aisle.

    Agreed stay clear!!

We bought one for an outdoor wedding that I was in in May. The wind kept blowing up up so we have to put rocks down to hold it in place and then everyone walking on it by the time myself (MOH) and Bride got to walk on it it was ripped and VERY hard to walk on I ended up moving over and walking on the grass so I didn't trip and fall on my face haha! Smiley smile

Runners are not a good idea for an outdoor wedding. Aside from it getting blown away, your heel could could stuck and you could trip.

I agree a runner for the outside is a bad idea, but i really like the idea of making two borders for where the runner would have been. That may work out better anyway. You could use anything! rose peddles, leaves,, fake or real flowers? Something that would match your wedding.

If you are wearing stilettos, walk on your toes, girl! putting weight on tiny heels on grass will make them sink and get your shoes, feet, and dress hem dirty. every step, step down with your toes, not your heel. Practice walking around your house this way so it looks natural on your wedding day

Agreed. Don't use it! I would be afraid of it getting ripped up or someone tripping on it.

Grass is my least favorite surface to put an aisle runner on.

Unless it is freshly cut golf course grass, I usually recommend doing something else to decorate the aisle.

Linda's ideas are great, but notice that the picture is on patched concrete?

A top quality heavy fabric aisle runner would work great on that surface!

Always make sure it is securely down.

(I install the hand painted aisle runners in the Orlando area)

Always get a sample of the fabric before deciding on the aisle runner.

    Good luck to all!

Please contact me with any question.

Keep your aisle perfectly straight & secure, with the Original Aisle Runner Stakes.

Aisle Runner Stakes were designed with outdoor weddings in mind, to secure the runner to the grass so you don't have to fear tripping or that your runner will blow away in the breeze.

They can be used on any runner, whether fabric, vinyl, plain or decorated. No longer will you fear tripping, or that your runner will be caught in a breeze. Also, if you want to keep your personalized runner for a keepsake after the wedding, they won't tear the runner.

    A Perfect Aisle, every time!
