Help!!! Blue dendrobium orchids

Ashli, on August 2, 2018 at 11:40 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 7
I am curious to know how these flowers get their color? Is the flower dyed by the coloring in the water soaked up through the stem? Or do they bloom this way? These are the colors of my wedding and I am having a difficult time understanding how I should go about getting this color. Also, how far in advance should the flowers be ordered if they are dyed? I want the color to be as bold as possible and not faded looking. Thank you for any advice that may be available. Picture included

These are dendrobium orchids that have been dyed. They are normally the purple you see on some of them. Check around with some florists, cuz they can be ordered from the wholesaler just like this. I worked in a flower shop for over 10 years, and we could get them already dyed pretty regularly, for about the same price as non-dyed. If you're putting them in a vase, the dye in the stems will seep out and turn the water blue.

You could consider getting silk ones in that color, I've seen them. You wouldn't need to worry about fading then.

Hi. These are also my flowers for my wedding! What did you use for a color pallet? I am unsure what other colors i should use because I want hem to match. Would you say it is a violet purple and a Caribbean Blue? Did you end up using real ones or fake? Can you please provide me with any information i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!

Hello, I am using these as an accent color to my bouquet as our theme is peacock feathers. So I believe any blue or purple color will do just fine. 😁
