HELP! Chapped Lips

HelloMrsNewman, on May 10, 2017 at 10:40 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 51

I've always had issues with my lips being chapped. I'm constantly putting Vaseline on them at night and chapstick on them throughout the day, but I'm not sure if that's helping or hurting! I'm to the point where I can't ever even wear lipstick (which used to be my favorite go to makeup) because it will just flake off and look gross. I GIVE UP! Any suggestions would be great! With engagement parties, bridal showers, and a wedding coming up I want this issue solved before it's forever documented lol

C.o. bigelow rose salve from bath and body works.i used to constantly apply chapstick and now I apply a little of this salve in the morning after doing my makeup and I don't have to apply again until before bed. Looooove it.

Also try some lip scrubs to get rid of dead skin. That'll help!

Up your water intake! My lips were always dry until I started drinking at least 60 oz of water daily, now I rarely need chapstick at all!

Okay this is going to sound really weird....but I have family that swear by this...using nipple cream for lip balm! It's meant for nursing mothers but works wonders for extremely dry lips!

I use the Eos chapstick line and it helps a lot - also as far as lip color, Bare Minerals has a line of Lip Oil Balm that is lip color but also moisturizes your lips and I use that any time I want lip color - it still gives such a nice pop but it doesnt get flaky or look bad on chapped lips.

Burts Bees make a great lip balm; put it on at night. The colored moisturizers are fabulous too.

    And stop licking them, lol!

I've been using the chap stick brand of lip scrub and it's the best! It's also a conditioner!

    There's a trick! Trust me!

Vaseline and Aquaphor are meant to seal in moisture, therefore if you don't have any moisture to begin with, they won't work alone.

At night I slather on lip balm, or even a gentle facial moisturizer (yep, on my lips), THEN I finish it with a coat of Aquaphor. Works every single time.

I had a similar issue, even though I used chapstick every day and night. What I started doing was using a wet soft-bristle toothbrush to exfoliate my lips. You just smile and brush over your lips--side to side, in circles, up and down--and it takes off all the dry skin. Dry off your lips and IMMEDIATELY apply a generous amount of chapstick or lip balm. My favorite is Chapstick Total Hydration 3-in-1. It's the ONLY one I use and it works better than the other 1000s I've tried! Since I started doing this, my lips are smooth and soft and I'm able to wear matte lipstick with no problems of crusting or flaking lips. I started doing this before the wedding, now I continue to do it once a day or every other day, and I of course did it on the day of my wedding (my lipstick applied flawlessly). I also suggest you up your water intake to stay hydrated and don't eat too many things covered in salt (like fries or pretzels) because it can dry out your lips.

Others mentioned, but another vote for lanolin. I use it at night when my lips are extra dry.
